Fizzy Xmas Grin I know, those landed gentry don't know they're born!! Hope you've managed to sort it now - at least you should have lots of leftovers for Mrs Patmore to rustle up some interesting Twixmas meals!!

I'm definitely feeling festively frazzled (great phrase). I've just started making peanut brittle Hmm for my Gran - the bloody stuff keeps for 2 months apparently so why I've left it until now I don't know. Anyway. It's her favourite so hopefully she'll like it...

Good luck with the peanut brittle Spidey

DS1 has been dispatched to my DMs to borrow a table - he is exited about the huge amounts of meat Xmas Grin

Raahh · 23/12/2019 19:15

Since dh refused queue in the traffic for M and S near Ikea yesterday, we had to go today. He really wishes he had lustened to me snd just sucked up the queue. Marks was a nightmare and Tesco was worse. We were out2 hours for about half a dozen things.

Raahh · 23/12/2019 19:17

And to add insult to injury, the light bulbs he insistedwe go all the way to Ikea for- he bought 2 different types. For the same room. Numpty. It's probably a goid thing I have done the rest of Christmas.

Xmas Grin

*good

JaneJeffer · 23/12/2019 19:46

I am also festively frazzled. I never want to see a shop again!

Fizzywinegum · 23/12/2019 20:54

I’ve sent DH to do the final shopping - not sure if that was the best idea but means I haven’t had to go in a shop.

He managed to get the garden table through the door so I now have two extra tables Xmas Hmm

I’m feeling exceptionally grumpy and need to get myself out of this bad mood in time for Christmas Day Xmas Sad

Raahh · 23/12/2019 21:00

I am not feeling festive. I'm trying for dd2, because she is 9. But the older 2 are making it hard for me to embrace the joy.

But I watched 'white Christmas'and felt warm and fuzzy( reminded me of gran, she used to sing 'sisters' to my sister and I, because she had 2 brothers.

Fizzywinegum · 23/12/2019 21:08

I know everything will work out in the end -not really sure why I’m feeling so grumpy.

I’ve not seen White Christmas - might give it a go. Hopefully we’ll be watching Elf tomorrow night.

Fizzywinegum · 23/12/2019 21:18

That’s a nice memory to have of your Gran Raahh

Fizzywinegum · 24/12/2019 13:28

Feeling a bit better today after my mini Christmas meltdown yesterday - everyone’s buggered off and left me (probably keeping out of my way Xmas Grin) so I’ve just been able to potter and get on with things.

Hope everyone else is Ok - I need some tennis to distract me 🎾

kazzaD66 · 24/12/2019 14:04

Have a good Christmas everyone. Hope all goes well over the next few days Xmas Hmm

See you on the other side! Xmas GrinStarGinWine

JaneJeffer · 24/12/2019 16:53

I'm feeling knackered. I think a little nap is in order once I get everyone fed.

Fizzywinegum · 24/12/2019 17:42

Merry Christmas all Xmas SmileWineXmas SmileGin🎾

A nap sounds like a good idea Jane

PrivateSpidey · 24/12/2019 17:58

Merry Christmas everyone! Xmas Grin Wine

Hope you all have a lovely time.

And remember - it's less than a month until the Australian Open starts Tennis

Well, I was out shopping at 9am again. But everything is prepped. I haven't stopped all day. The massive cow beef joint just needs sorting and putting in the slow cooker and that is today done.

Then it is down to Father Christmas to do his bit. Providing he doesn't nod off.

Grin

Merry Christmas everyone. DD2 and I have done reindeer dust and are watching 'The Tiger who Came To Tea'.

Just watched back the Doddie Weir programme which was shown on BBC1 either last night or the night before. Managed to hold it together until the very end, when he lost it a bit talking about his 50th birthday next year.

JaneJeffer · 25/12/2019 11:11

Happy Christmas you lovely lot. Hope all goes to plan!

Hope everyone had a good day yesterday Xmas Smile

Weather has been awful here today but managed to venture to the pub this afternoon so can't complain I suppose!

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 27/12/2019 15:12

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Makes me wonder why I got so stressed about it all - must remember this for next year (never do!Xmas Hmm)

Going to the pub sounds like a good plan Spidey - I had a bit of a lazy day yesterday, watching telly and eating too much cheese Xmas Smile. I went for a swim this morning and going out in a bit so been a bit more active today (still eating cheese though!)

Hope everyone is well and looking forward to some tennis in 2020 🎾

PrivateSpidey · 27/12/2019 16:56

Fizzy you are so right, I'm the same! I always stress out and it always works out fine (or you realise on the day you don't actually care about what you were stressing about!). We'll definitely have to remember this for next year!!

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/12/2019 17:31

I got a bit stressed- mainly over making roast potatoes for the first time in our new-ish oven (I haven't quite got to grips with it temperature wise).

They turned out fine. Bil wasn't too well though, and then he left a lot earlier than I expected him to - so we went to my sister's (my mum and gran were there)a bit early. That was fun- we played charades. I might have been a bit tipsy by then, and my 'Watership Down' mime will be remembered for years to come (very over enthusiastic hopping).

Grin

We went to my dad's for round 2 yesterday- they just do a buffet, and it's nice and relaxed. I was a lot better behaved.

My mother made the mistake of buying my nearly 90 year old gran an Echo Dot. Well it seemed like a good idea in November Grin.
I think she will either a) shove to the back of a cupboard or b) use it as a coaster.

Apparently during their Christmas dinner, she announced which song she wanted when she 'goes through the curtains'.

Apparently my neice (who is 20) was mortified once my sister explained what she meant by this. Grin.

Raahh · 27/12/2019 21:23

I am watching the 50th anniversary Question of Sport show. Voice of Doom Sue's hair changes a LOT.

I remember when Bill Beaumont was on it, he used to come into the record shop I worked in at the airport quite a lot. ( it has always been filmed in Manchester, now Salford).

Raahh · 27/12/2019 21:29

It has reminded me that on New year's day,I can say I will be 50 next year ( end of 2021, but still...)
