Well having made a complete fool of my self by giving advance notice of the Mallorca Files I am about to do it again.

Or at least I hope not, given who the writer is and where the concept came from.

At this point I would welcome anything decent as there seems to be nothing but totally nonsense on the tv or repeats.

Have you seen it all?

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 22/12/2019 21:30

I have.

stumbledin · 23/12/2019 00:17

Yes I have now. There was nothing else to watch and wasn't sure I would be able to watch on 24th.

I think if anyone wants to discuss the whole thing just start your post with SPOILER so anyone who is still catching up can skip over.

I dont think anyone will be coming on here at 10pm on Christmas Eve to start discussing it!

But have really appreciated those that have held back.

ScapaFlo · 23/12/2019 08:27

I've seen it all and I did enjoy it. Nice to see Frisky being a goodie rather than a baddie 😁

AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 24/12/2019 19:25

That's why I kept thinking he was a baddie then!

northernstars · 25/12/2019 14:59

We did watch the last one last night. Vincent Regan is a long time crush.

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 25/12/2019 15:42

Can we now talk about the finale?

diddl · 25/12/2019 16:42

Ooh yes, Vincent Regan.

I'd love to talk about the finale!

Something I might have missed from the 1st ep.

Weren't there three bodies found?

2 people who worked there?

Who was the 3rd?

(Or have I imaged 3?)

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead · 25/12/2019 17:47

I missed the 3rd body then - that passed me right by.

I was just disappointed by how it turned out as it was so obvious as soon as his character was introduced that I was hoping for a better twist. I think it started out brilliantly but was shit in the end!

diddl · 25/12/2019 18:40

Oh I maybe imagined 3!

I agree that it was obvious well, not necessarily straight away, although I strongly suspected, but the scene in the flat definitely gave it away!

How old was Daniel supposed to be?

Because MC is mid 30s & too old imo to have been so reliant on his dad!

There was a time I thought it might have been son rather than father, but I couldn't figure out how old he would have been.

I pretty much enjoyed it though.

TragicRabbit · 26/12/2019 05:33

There was definitely 3. The third was the reason the fire was started.
The club owner saw the 3rd guy going into the back room (can’t remember why) and locked him in.
He didn’t know his daughter and the other bloke were in there.

diddl · 26/12/2019 12:31

Who was the third & why was he locked in?

Corneliawildthing · 26/12/2019 16:21

I was a bit underwhelmed at the ending tbh. It was nice to see a Scottish series that wasn't set in Glasgow for a change though.

stumbledin · 26/12/2019 19:48

InvisibleWomenMustBeRead - I said ages ago anyone who wanted should discuss the whole series and just add spoiler at the start.

But who is the Frisky? [confusted]

I agree that it sort of tailed off. Its like so many that start off well, but then they cant somehow finish it convincingly.

Can anyone explain why Izzy was so desperate to cover up the fact that her flat had been used by Emma's mum and dad for occassional sex at the time? Was it to protect her mum's reputation or because she thought it would imply her step dad or even her day had something to do with her mum's murder.

OP posts:
AllYouGoodGoodPeople · 26/12/2019 20:09

It did kind of tail off, that's a good description. A few loose ends and dead ends.

Frisky was the nice policeman in Traces but a baddycslled Frisky in the Night Manager.

stumbledin · 26/12/2019 20:24

Thanks - I think I have seen him in other things but don't associate him with badness.

But after the earlier discussion about accents, and not of course being in any way able to comment on Scottish accents, I did look up the cast and many were from Glasgow or near by, but he is from Fife and to me did sound different.

I liked the sub plot of his romance, and that they both observed the rules of workplace involvements.

Maybe that could start a series with the two of them!

PS have just seen that Val McDermiad had a small screen appearance in this, but cant say I recognised her.

Stumbledin i was confused by the relationship between the nice cop and the head SEFRA lady as at the start of one episode (4?) it showed a few couples in bed and one looked like head SEFRA lady with another man, not him

Is the guy who plays daniels day really scottish, ive seen him in a few things recently where hes been French, Geordie and Irish so none the wiser what is accent is

stumbledin · 26/12/2019 21:04

Well I didn't know that until someone early on on this thread pointed it out. (Sorry I dont know how to look at earlier posts on a thread whilst typing a comment.)

But it was pointed out that although it is set in Dundee they all seemed to have Glaswegian accents. Which I wasn't that aware off. But its a bit like (repeating myself here) have a series set in Liverpool and they all speak with Manchester accents.

Sorry cant remember the scenes you refering to.

Also I am bad on details, just go with the plot twists. But I am sure someone else will be able to answer your question!

AmIthechristmasfairy · 26/12/2019 21:22

I've watched the first two on catch up. Will watch the others over the weekend

I'm enjoying it and it is nice to spot places I know

What did you mean about clothes, OP? You've commented on it twice - what's wrong with their clothing?

stumbledin · 26/12/2019 22:13

I did post later on that I thought it was me not being in the work place any longer and no doubt the clothes are commonly worn by women in professional jobs. (It was specifically the blouses / shirts they seem oddly cut and stange material Blush )

Where I live you dont see this, there earnetly street cred, crumblies, or fashion showing which "tribe" you belong to. (and the odd late night shopper or sunday morning pyjamas)

OP posts:
ScapaFlo · 26/12/2019 22:51

Frisky was one of the arch baddie Roper's bodyguards in The Night Manager. The main policeman guy in this (sorry, names recall is terrible these days).

I think Val McDermid's brief appearance was a television report of the finding of the body in the park. I spotted her (mind I've seen her in the bus and along the water path near where I used to live in Edinburgh, so she's quite familiar)

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/12/2019 21:27

Finally seen e6

Bit far fetched

She forgets her handbag. Goes to collect it. Meets Daniel. Moves in with him in a week

Then meets his dad who just so happened to have been in a foursome with her mum and best mate And drew year ago

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/12/2019 21:28

Whoops hit send

And his dad was the killer

Could you be with the son knowing his dad killer your mum

Could you be with the girl knowing your dad killed her mom

shearwater2 · 21/04/2024 19:57

Just started watching this. If Emma's research area is street drugs, why does she have to go on the "MOOC" to look at forensic science and dead bodies stuff?

shearwater2 · 21/04/2024 20:14

Ah, I get it now. Seemed a bit of a tenuous link at first.
