Was channel hopping last night and luckily caught the start of this. Absolutely fascinating documentary about the spread of HIV in Edinburgh between 1979 and 1989.
Interesting to hear from former police officers about the effect the ‘war on drugs’ had on the spread of HIV amongst drug addicts. The police were confiscating needles so in effect encouraging sharing needles. Of course they didn’t know what would happen as a result but they said that they changed their tactics much too slow.
