Fizzy I've never seen Rafa 'live'- the only player I've seen (who I cared much sbout was Edberg, buut we we are going 30 odd years since the first time). I did see Sampras at the same event a few years later- wasn't so fussed about seeing him Grin
My mum took my gran to the finals one year, but it's too far from us really for a day trip, and they missed some of the evening match to get the train home.

Sascha and the pub carpet. Grin

I'm sure I'm mentioned my love of the Wetherspoon's carpet book. They are bespoke, you know.

That picture is begging for a dart board in the back.

Raahh · 05/11/2019 17:21

I also agree that Sacha and Stefanos can be hit and miss- and maybe Daniil will have burnt out a bit.

(although if Rafa doesn't got beyond the RR stage, then I'd like Medvedev to win).

Raahh · 05/11/2019 17:39

I was going to see if I could watch the Next Gen finals, but to be honest, the format annoys me. And the coaching. I'm sure lots of people love it, but I am not keen.

My favourite Norwegian lost his first match.

Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 17:42

I saw an extract from that book Raahh (I also lead an exciting life!) they design the carpets to reflect the history of the Wetherspoon pub (I’m sure that level of detail is wasted on the average punter Grin)

I’ve seen quite a few players at Wimbledon but never Rafa Sad. Even if they we get tickets the whole thing is quite stressful - waiting for the order of play to come out. Rafa is always on the opposite court that we’ve got tickets for.

I usually go with my DM and I think she holds me responsible for who goes on which court (which adds to the stress etc as well as the trains) I might just watch it on the telly Smile

JaneJeffer · 05/11/2019 18:04

Why does Stef's name look as though it's been stuck over someone else's name on the sign?

Raahh · 05/11/2019 18:20

Fizzy I love the bit in the book that shows where they make all the carpets - at firt I thought 'nah, it's not just for Spoons carpets- but it was!Grin

Jane Grin It does, doesn't it?

Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 18:40

Just had a look at the Wimbledon ballot website - you need to have registered before 21 October (which I haven’t done!) and then you can apply for tickets between 1 and 30 November.

Looks as if I’ve missed the boat Sad. Do you think they’ll still accept a SAE?

kazzaD66 · 05/11/2019 18:53

Oh no fizzy Sad

Sascha has a look on his face meaning...."the things I have to do for my sport!
I've got washing to do / dogs to walk / another game of darts to play"

*delete as applicable
Grin

Raahh · 05/11/2019 18:57

kazza he' s also the pot boy- it's how he makes up his money Grin. He has bills to pay Grin .

He should invite his Yorkshire mate down for a pint, and a game of darts. Grin

Yes he’s not looking too happy with his new role - the whole thing looks a bit put together tbh.

DH may have redeemed himself - he thinks he’s registered for Wimbledon tickets so should hopefully be able to apply (he is being a bit vague though!)

PrivateSpidey · 05/11/2019 19:30

Oh bollocks - is that right Fizzy?? What a swizz - in the old SAE days, as long as you sentthe form back by 31 Dec it was fine!!

I'm annoyed now.

Grin Why is Sascha having to do all the work by himself? I saw he made a little video as well. Where are the rest of them?! (As if he doesn't have enough to do!)

Well done His Lordship Grin sounds like he might have saved the day!

Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 19:39

I thought it all happened in December as well Spidey - bring back the SAE!

I think DH has registered but he’s grumping about it not being obvious how to apply - I’m surprised there hasn’t been a national outcry! Apparently you can add pictures of your favourite players to your account and he’s added Rafa and Kyrgios Shock

Poor Sascha does look very put upon - come on those glasses won’t collect themselves Grin

Raahh · 05/11/2019 19:42

Kyrgios Fizzy Shock

Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 19:45

He pretends (I hope) to like Kyrgios to wind me up - it generally works!

PrivateSpidey · 05/11/2019 19:46

Grin laughing so much at (a) Sascha collecting the empties at Spoons and (b) Kyrgios being registered as a favourite player, and not only that, alongside his arch enemy Rafa!! I hope it's not registered under your name Fizzy!! Shock

OP posts:
Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 19:52

I think divorce may be on the cards - still not sure if he’s registered but I think the Kyrgios thing is the worse crime!

JaneJeffer · 05/11/2019 20:06

Did you say "Oh Robert, how could you?" in your best Lady Grantham voice Fizzy?

Fizzywinegum · 05/11/2019 20:17

Grin Jane in the strange parallel tennis universe DH isn’t aware that he is known as His Lordship - I think I’ll keep this information from him! I would quite like to be Lady Grantham though Smile

JaneJeffer · 05/11/2019 20:25

Very good M'Lady Grin

I see Sascha has gone to watch the Chelsea match tonight while he's in London. Glad he's getting some time off. It'll be back to the grindstone tomorrow no doubt!

Raahh · 05/11/2019 22:04

It's probably one of his other jobs, Spidey, cleaning the boots afterwards.
