I seem to remember enjoying it and have a vague memory it finished with unresolved plots as a series 2 was planned but BBC cancelled it.

Yes, Stephanie Beacham, Emily Mortimer, set during the war. It was great - rather racey in parts! Can't believe it was so long ago, although 1996 still feels like yesterday
