Surviving R. Kelly

Not sure if I've seen a thread about this yet. But I spent the last 2 days watching this documentary series on Netflix.

Has anyone else seen it?

I'd heard a few bits about him over the last year, but nothing as big as when the Harvey Weinstein cases became public. I'm in shock at the severity of it and how it hasn't been such a public focus as some others.

How has he gotten away with this for so long when there are so many witnesses who have come forward?

I think the answer lies into how the girls are viewed by society. That they are "loose" and want it, that they are lying or setting him up for money, that they want the fame or street cred that comes with being with him, that they know what they are getting into.
He should have been stopped when the tape was leaked. I still struggle as to how he was found not guilty.
The reason it didn't happen is that nobody wanted to loose the "I believe I can fly" cash cow. Not the studio/ music companies and not the dodgy staff he employs to run his perverted pied Piper lifestyle.
I think the only way to stop what he is doing now is for him to run out of money. Once that goes so will all the yes men and protection he has.

Just watched this today. So difficult to watch.

As a direct result of this harrowing documentary R Kelly is now in jail awaiting trial on so many charges across 3 states in the USA
Hopefully he will never see the outside of prison again.

I watched this, it was harrowing. Those poor women and girls Sad

I watched this and then the OJ Simpson series. Both are black men in the US who started out poor and became extremely successful. They were heroes and beacons of hope to their communities. It's always hard to watch your heroes fall. Throw in US race politics and I can see how this happened.

I hope R Kelly never has the opportunity to hurt a woman again.
