May I take the liberty of introducing anyone who has enjoyed MKR Australia to the NZ version.

In order to fully appreciate this series you should watch with the subtitles on. The subtitling cannot cope with the NZ accent, the last instant restaurant (2018 episode 6) had a particularly nice example when the word, 'us' was displayed as 'arses'.

And the judges are still Pete and Manu.

I love these programmes. Everyone is delightfully bitchy too! Glad we dont have to see the lovebirds snogging every 2 minutes now

demented
In this house we have 2 games, the MKR drinking game and the MKR GOT game.

The drinking game, drink every time someone says:

We don't want to under cook it and we don't want to over cook it
Where is the sauce?
Stoked
Under the pump

We introduce other rules per series, one year it was, 'everytime someone says Asian', for MKR 10 it was 'Every time Josh is nasty' and 'Every time someone says Peru'

A lot gets drunk

MKR GOT - you have to decide which character for GOT each contestant is. Do Josh was Joffrey, the beauty queens were Lannisters etc.

For MKT NZ I think a rule could be, "everytime someone mispronounces a word", when they say Tot - till - as instead of tortilla

Checking up on this - how awful were the constantly kissing couple? Glad they went, they were not as good as they thought they were. Like Eden and her Dad. The Asian ladies were a bit of a flash in the pan.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/09/2019 05:07

Thank you for bringing this to our attention, binge watching. Kissing couple were horrendous. Surprised how short the series is

sashh · 21/09/2019 06:17

It is short, sort of a poor relation to the Aussie ones. There is a South African one but I just didn't get on with it.

Don't want to spoil for anyone else but was delighted with the winner

walkinwar · 21/09/2019 07:00

Where can I find this NZ version? I happened to be chatting to my friend earlier today who is one of the editors for the Aussie series. They film each episode over 2 days, gather 45 hours of footage and each episode takes 7 weeks to edit (there is an entire team of editors). I never realised how much goes into a TV show!

dementedpixie · 21/09/2019 08:09

It was the final last night!

ny20005 · 21/09/2019 11:35

I was so pleased with the winners !

This is the poor relation to Mkr Australia though. 6 teams is hardly much competition

dementedpixie · 21/09/2019 11:45

MKR Australia seemed to last forever too with lots of sudden death cook offs.

GinAndBubbles · 21/09/2019 11:50

I love the Aus version, watch it every year! Watched the NZ final last night, can’t believe how short it is, over before it began, although wasn’t that great in my opinion...

Hubby and I said we’d start a drinking game for next season... every time someone states the obvious then drink! For example, “...if I cook it too long it will be over cooked, but if I don’t cook it long enough, it won’t be cooked”... once you’re aware of how many stupid statements like this there are you won’t be able to miss them!

Nonstopbuttmachine · 21/09/2019 14:25

Oh I love MKR Aussie! Is the NZ one as bitchy? Pete pisses me off, he's so smug!

sashh · 22/09/2019 06:45

I too was pleased with the winners. Nonstop they don't have time to be bitchy.

Walk My sky box recorded it, it was on the same channel as MKR Australia.

There has been another, longer series, recorded to fingers crossed it will be shown soon.

Gin

I'm pinching that rule to add tomy game, and possible, 'when anyone tells their team mate what they are doing, "So X, I'm peeling potatoes" yes I know that's for the benefit of the viewers, but it's an excuse for a drink.
