DVD box sets for 11 year old

DD is about to be 11 and is getting a portable DVD player - her request. She saw a friend with one and hasn't stopped talking about it. Thing is - she doesn't own any DVDs! I'd love to get her a couple of box sets so she can watch an episode in bed rather than a whole film, but no idea what to get. She's reading Mallory towers right now, likes David Williams. Adored watching just add magic, though found it scary in parts and I had to talk her down. Also loves Gortimer Gibbons. Can't bear Disney princesses. Any ideas?

At about that age, DS loved Merlin, and there are lots of episodes!

Outnumbered is also a great shout - nice short episodes and VERY funny.
