We are! The reviews aren’t great, but we’ve watched the first couple of episode and we’re really enjoying it so far!

angelopal · 31/08/2019 17:24

Not yet but planning on giving it a go.

youngestisapsycho · 31/08/2019 21:47

DH watched it , he said it was 'ok' .

Cara Delevingne is in it ( I didn't recognise her , thought Is it her, is it not her ? )

Were halfway through now and still enjoying it. Episode 3 is a flashback episode and while it was quite exciting in parts, it was also quite a long time to take away from the main action/present timeline. The world building is really rich! I’ve read criticism of the lead actors but tbh all I really require of Orlando Bloom is that he look pretty, and he manages that very well. There’s some reasonably well-known supporting cast (Jared Harris, Tamzin Merchant, Tilda Swinson, Roman Vibert) doing a good job too. The sets and special effects are good. Amazon have apparently already commissioned a second season and DH and I are pleased, anyway!

We watched the first one last night but I was very tired and a few glasses of wine in. I shall rewatch it but we will be watching the rest of the series.

colourlessgreenidea · 01/09/2019 20:24

We lasted about 20 minutes and had to switch it off. It was so clumsy and derivative.

Once upon a time in a tv production office in the not too distant past, someone said “Hey, let’s mash ‘Peaky Blinders’ and ‘Ripper Street’ with a bit of ‘GOT’ in order to make the next binge-worthy box set!!” And so this happened. Hmm

Italiangreyhound · 02/09/2019 02:12

I'm looking into watching this with my teenager. Can i ask how scary is it (this is for me not her, I hate gore/torture/violence etc)?

Is it very sexual? Don't think anything will shock my dd but it's weird watching that with my kid!

I do like fantasy stuff but avoied Game of Thrones because I heard it was violent and sexual and this has been compared to that so....

Would welcome reviews from those who've seen it!

Thanks - youngestisapsycho, StarlingsInSummer, GrimDamnFanjo, and 8MrsPnut*. Thanks.

TildaKauskumholm · 02/09/2019 15:41

Watched a couple of eps, some sex and full nudity, some gory bits, lot of swearing.... not bothering to watch any more, as I can't get into it.

Italiangreyhound · 02/09/2019 21:47

Thanks TildaKauskumholm

cushioncovers · 02/09/2019 22:43

I'm enjoying it so far.

GrimDamnFanjo · 03/09/2019 01:16

@Italiangreyhound it's not as explicit as GoT in general I think. Some sex scenes and a generally debauched lifestyle as Carnival Row is the wrong side of the tracks.
I'm quite enjoying it.
I still want wings.

Italiangreyhound · 03/09/2019 08:26

Thank you.

Soubriquet · 03/09/2019 17:10

I binged watched this in 2 days.

I loved it!!!

Hoping a season 2 will be on its way

ididntdoititwasher · 05/09/2019 08:03

We finished this last night and loved it! Loved the style and the characters. Glad it's being given the go ahead for season two as there's a few loose ends.

youngestisapsycho · 06/09/2019 20:34

I really enjoyed it... loved the music. Can’t wait for season 2!

I'm almost finished it too and really like it. I loved ripper Street and I has a similar feel mixed in with 'angel'. Nothing has said GoT to me, maybe more LOTR?
