I can’t find a thread but please redirect me if there is one already. Looking forward to Helen’s story , but will be missing Vic.

It was good but a bit confusing in the middle. Who is Madeleine?

Frazzled74 · 29/08/2019 21:22

She was Joanies adopted daughter. I think that story is just to fill us in on Cole and Alison in their absence and add that 3rd dimension. I enjoyed it but I agree a bit confusing.

So the future scenes are of Joanie grown up in another time? It did look futuristic.

KickOffTheSundayShoes · 30/08/2019 11:59

Yes it's Joanie grown up with her own family.

I am missing Alison and Cole already!

Loopytiles · 30/08/2019 21:39

Glad there’s a thread! Enjoyed this.

Maura Tierney excellent in this episode.

Noah being decent for a change, although not to his girlfriend.

Great property porn.

V sad not to have Alison and Cole in it.

Am not on board with the adult Joanie thing, not least because Joanie was dark and Anna Paquin doesn’t look right and is too familiar from True Blood!

Frazzled74 · 31/08/2019 13:59

Yes I thought Noah and Helens scenes were great. I thought Joanie seemed damaged, like Alison.

Absolutely loved it from start to finish.Beautifully acted, and fabulous scenery. Helen was fantastic as always. Will so miss Vic and the other older faces. It's completely different to the first series but still grabbed my interest.I didn't enjoy the Joanie scenes but liked her husband .

Loopytiles · 31/08/2019 21:30

Wonder what has happened to Cole.

knorrig · 31/08/2019 21:43

The Joanie bit was weird! Will be difficult to make that work!

Loved Vic :(

Was worried Noah would try it on with Helen so thankfully that didn’t happen!

ihatethecold · 31/08/2019 22:01

I absolutely loved the first one of season 5.
Can’t wait to watch the next one. Maura was incredible to watch.

MrsPellegrinoPetrichor · 31/08/2019 23:02

Thank God for Telly Addicts, there's no way I would've worked out who Joanie was!!

Blankspace4 · 01/09/2019 09:32

Wow - ep one was a good’un! Gutted to find Sky haven’t released the full box set as I immediately went to watch ep 2 to find it wasn’t there.

So much happened in this episode. I actually never really liked Vic, can’t put my finger on why. Didn’t he go a bit rogue in season 3 or 4? And what’s the story with the baby - I did watch season 4 and remembered he went off with the neighbour but why did everyone make peace with it? Just because he was dying was he seen as a saint?

I liked the semi-futuristic look into Joni’s life.

It’s not quite the same without Alison though.

Loopytiles · 01/09/2019 13:33

I never liked Vic!

Noah will be cracking onto Helen soon, for sure.

ihatethecold · 03/09/2019 18:17

I dying to watch the second episode.

Crinescene · 03/09/2019 19:18

Tonight 9pm! Can’t wait

Frazzled74 · 03/09/2019 22:23

Loved it, but not the last part with Joanie and Montauk! Clever but I can’t help feeling it’s just a bit too much.A bit too post apocalyptic?

OP posts:
MadgeMak · 04/09/2019 13:04

I thought the future bits were a bit too far fetched. How old is grown up Joanie? I'm guessing no older than mid forties, possibly even mid thirties. It felt like the future world was too futuristic for twenty or thirty years time.

ihatethecold · 05/09/2019 11:08

My DH was really confused by the Joanie part. Montuak looked trashed. I think Helen is amazing in this season so far.

jardy · 07/09/2019 21:08

Nope sorry didn't enjoy episode 2 apart from the wonderful Maura.
The naff acting by the students was amusing
So miss Vic
