Is anyone following this series on BBC Two: a food production competition, with amateur producers of sweets, pickles, etc competing against each other for best product and most promising business? It's on in the middle of the day, but also on iPlayer. It's very pleasant to watch, with a beautiful setting in Yorkshire.

The only off-putting thing is one of the judges, apparently a well-known chef, whose loose, long hair drifting around the food seems most unprofessional Grin.

Saw it last night. From the sound of it, that salted caramel stuff was really sickly! Like liquid 'tablet'.

Yes, salted caramel is really tricky to get right. In fact, the sweets episode was the least appealing of the rounds I've seen so far.

It was interesting that in each of the three episodes you could guess the likely winners of the round: those that had more meticulous processes, working from scratch.

As for the giving away chocolates as samples. I did cringe for her. Hotel Chocolat have a good method with offering smaller versions of their chocolates as samples. I was hoping they'd advise her to do something similar, but I suppose that'd take away the fun of a TV competition.
