Not saying either of these are great (have only watched one episode of each) but I remember someone posting about Scandi Noir.

Well this isn't Scandi Noir, but one is Italian and one is French and in neither of them td the women humilate themselves by stumbling around in ridiculous hight heels unlike a certain Welsh thriller!

The Italian one is called Thou Shalt Not Kill on fridays More 4 www.channel4.com/programmes/thou-shalt-not-kill/on-demand/68749-025

The French one is called No Second Chance is sundays on channel 4 www.channel4.com/programmes/no-second-chance/on-demand/70121-001

As yet neither comes any where near the wonderfully grubby Spiral.

But just thought I would post in case anyone like me is getting really fed up of US mush.

Hi OP
Yes I’ve seen these advertised on All 4 but not watched yet.
I would recommend you down load All 4 ( Walter presents ).
Professor T is my favourite and Locked up is pretty good also

I was going to start a thread on Walter Presents!

I'm 3 or 4 episodes in to The Swingers (Dutch) but I don't know if I'll continue with it. My mum has just finished season 1 of Borderline I think it's called and is devastated season 2 doesn't appear to be there.

Still to find one that really grips me from the start.

The Outlaws is well worth a watch if it is still on there, very funny!

Ride Upon the Storm is great

I recommend Sex Education on Netflix!

Hi avamiah

Yes when I first heard of Walter presents I thought that's going to be good, but have been quite disappointed.

Started watching that one set behind the Berlin Wall and thought it really good, but just couldn't get into the second series. Saw a Dutch one where everyone was gross! The men where gross, the women were gross, there was a stupid Islamaphobic plot and I had always had this idea the Dutch would be very laid back and interesting.

Anyhow, my experience of Walter presents has not been great.

I just posted these 2 partly because of the female leads, and becomes I remember someone asking about Scani Noir and because it is really good that in most European films the women aren't dressed up in some stupid high fashion unrealistic way with 2 feet of make up, which unfortunately the UK seems to be following.

So disappointed that Archie Punjabi had also been turned into an airbrushed barbie, with really silly shoes in Departure. She was so good as Kalinda in the Good Wife.

Anyhow, so I keep an eye of for european thrillers with female leads.

Just hope these 2 wont disappoint.

And although I mentioned US mush was very impressed by I am the Night.

There's a French police series set in northern France (around le Treport) with a female lead. It's called Witnesses (les Témoins). It's not Spiral but I enjoyed it. I think it was on channel 4. Audrey Fleurot is in one series too.

veneeroftheweek · 22/08/2019 22:21

I just looked it up - it was on BBC 4 but only seems to be available on Amazon now.

stumbledin · 23/08/2019 00:14

Yes I remember Witness. The first one was very good, but somehow I didn't really get as enthralled in the second one. In fact I am fairly sure I still haven't watched the last episode!
