Recording vs Streaming

Thought here might be a good place to post. Planning to cancel Sky as the bill is just getting ridiculous. And we only really use it for Sky Sports which we can do PAYG with NowTV. My biggest reservation is not being able to record stuff. I hear people say there's no need with NowTV/Netflix etc as everything is just there. But I like to scroll through my planner to see what has recorded. I might forget I had wanted to watch something until I see I had recorded it. Do the various streaming services allow you to series link and set reminders etc?

I don't think it is possible with Prime/Now and Netflix as it's all there to see so no need to record.

I have Virgin Media and I'm planning to ditch them once my contract is up. I'm planning to pay for the ad free version of More4 and ITV hub as I cannot bear to sit through adverts.

Most of the stuff I've got recorded I won't get round to watching anyway.

I guess you could get a PVR machine so you can do series link etc but that'll only work for stuff on Freeview.

Netflix you can bookmark My List. Ditto iPlayer.

Thank you. So you can go through the guide and make a sort of 'want to watch' list. Can you do a series link like on Sky where it automatically records the next series-so it would auto remind next series?

For Netflix and now tv you just add to your watch list, but then there may be "normal" TV you want to watch that you used to do series links on the sky box for. For that, you need a recorder box- like the sky one, but not from sky! Mine is from Panasonic, but all the TV brands make them. Then you can record any of the channels and watch when you want and forward through the adverts.

Brilliant; thank you
