Did anyone understand the end of 'Empathy?'

I didnt see it but my mum is frustrated as she said she didnt understand the end. Says The one who could see the flashbacks was having an op at the end and the girl detective bent over to kiss him and he had a flashback involving chains and she couldnt understand what it was about. Anyone able to put her out of her misery?

Ah,now I took it to be more sinister in that he was now able to see into the future rather than the past,and yes,blatent cliffhanger.

I agree with sugerfree, that it was the future he was seeing not the past at the end. I really enjoyed though.
