Absolutely LOVED watching series one of this when I was pregnant. Just finished watching season two....I can't be the only one that finds the character of Audrey infuriating and overall just difficult to watch?!

The whole 'fortune teller game' scene with the young mums was just cringe....not to mention how she publicly and loudly broke her husbands heart after he proposed to her (yes I know he should have known her stance on it, but still!)

I dunno. Just found her annoying!

Yes me too, I loved the first series though

Yes just watched a couple from season 2 I find her too unbearable to continue

Shame first season was good, esp the scene where they didn’t have enough wine glasses

In her sort of defence, she was drunk.

I think the scene with the fortune teller thing was supposed to show how self-loathing/inwardly conflicted she is. She is pretty much a homemaker - she does a little bit of part-time work and clearly feels her career has stalled since having Stevie - but she sees that as a shameful option that she wouldn't contemplate for her daughter. I think it was supposed to set up her decision later that episode that it now needs to be 'her turn' in terms of career/self-fulfillment.

I recognised a lot of myself and a lot of women I know in Audrey (she's obviously a lot more exaggerated, she's a character in a comedy!), which I think makes me both more sympathetic to her and more infuriated by her bad decisions - it's horrible seeing your own flaws presented on tv!

I love The Letdown - it just so happened that DS was a newborn when I watched the first series and had just turned 1 for this one, so in some ways it felt spookily like my life. The first series, in particular, was the most realistic depiction of motherhood I've seen on television by such a long way.

For me the big disappointment of the second series was the disco scene in the final episode - SO unrealistic, and so beneath this programme.

Agree

It's one of the funniest things I have watched in ages, her awkwardness makes me lol rather than cringe. I love her so much. And her unmovable hair in the 1st episode in season 2 was amazing.

Last episode of season 2 was very disappointing. I feel like Netflix have set it as a series finale. I don't think it'll be renewed.

I actually preferred season 1. Season 2 turned Audrey into an insufferable whiny shit

Oflawrence · 18/08/2019 23:02

Agree it's very realistic about the early stages with a newborn.
Totally agree the scene at the silent disco was stupid.
I felt the last episode was the end of the show as it seemed to round up things but have read it's been renewed for series 3!
