Stranger Things on Netflix- spoiler me please

I am watching Stranger Things with Dh. He's really into it, I'm really not. But we've been having a bit of a shit time recently and he's seeing this as a good way for us to just hang out and do something together so I don't actually want to admit that I haven't a clue what's going on.

So we have just watched episode 5 of season 1 and it seems like Will has been stolen by a monster but he's not dead, Barb has been eaten by the monster and probably is dead. She has a friend who is in the story quite a bit but I can't remember her name or work out which boy she is sleeping with. She was sucked into a tree by the monster but is out now. The monster keeps appearing in Will's house.
There is some weird thing going on in a weird factory involving the monster and fake bodies stuffed with cotton wool. Some guy went through a hole in the wall and got eaten.
Some woman may or may not have a child called Jane but she can't speak any more. I have no idea where she appeared from or fits in at all.
One of the other kids has been successfully hiding a kid called Eleven, who is a girl but looks like a boy, and has super powers, in his basement and his parents haven't noticed. She keeps wandering around in a really weird dress with a bleeding nose but still no-one has noticed, although now she is starting to do weird stuff to the other kids. And she can transmit radio signals. Is Eleven actually Jane?
Am I following it so far?

Does it all become clear later? Please could someone just tell me how season 1 ends? I might find it easier to follow if I know how it is going to end because right now I am completely lost. I really think this is not my sort of tv show at all but I will persevere for the sake of a happy marriage if someone can just tell me the ending in advance. Thank you!

It hints that Eleven might be Jane but no one has said it outright.

Eleven's bed in the basement gets found, but at that point, it's already kicking off. Lots of people go looking for the monster and Will and eventually all end up bumping into each other. Ell does more moving things and has more nose bleeds to make sure that the right people end up doing things together and the wrong people don't catch them. In the end, the wrong people find out what happened and actually cooperate a bit and Will is rescued just in time for Christmas. There was lots of goo and tentacles.

It's an alternative reality called the upside down that the monster is in, the tree is the portal between the normal world and the upside down. The monster got out, snatched Will, who is now hiding from the monster in the upside down. The no star and will bring at his house is pushing the barrier between the 2 worlds.

There's an agency that is trying to access the upside down, and experiments on kids who have these special powers to help them. Eleven is one of those kids.

Not because she has short hair. I initially thought she was meant to be Will, when I wasn't properly paying attention, maybe that made me think boy. I honestly think she looks like a boy. I even googled her before I believed she was a girl. Then the terrible wig and dress didn't help.

She's just not physically developed, like a lot of 12 year old girls.

I mean if you've actually watched every episode i didnt find it confusing tbh. Were you paying attention or half on your phone?

11 is a girl, she has a girls face and speaks like a girl and wears a dress. She's called Millie bobby brown in real life.

"when I wasn't properly paying attention" in honesty, I think that's why you're finding it hard to understand. Reading the OP i couldn't work out how someone who'd watched it could be so unsure, but you do have to be paying attention or you will miss important things. It's not the kind of thing you can follow if it's just in the background.

I binged all 3 seasons over the last few weeks. Loved it. Stick with it op. eleven or Elle is a girl with powers, she was taken at birth, her real name is Jane.
Mike, whose basement Elle stays in, sister is Nancy, she went through the portal with Jonathan (Wills brother) she's going out with Steve.
