I've just finished watching this. So difficult to watch and I was about to switch it odd at so many points but I'm so glad I didn't as I woudlnt have gotten the full story.
Those two men accused are without doubt dodgy and disgusting in my opinion however with everything else that came out I think there's a strong chance that her parents know it wasn't them who did it.
Everytime I've ever been to Blackpool I've hated it and held onto my kids so tight (probably just because it's so busy), now this has put me off going back.
How can a mother and father knowingly bring back strange men to the house where they have young daughter's?
I don't know what to think anymore about what happened to her but poor Charlene, it's like she didn't stand a chance with those parents

It was a difficult watch, and those guys, although wrongly accused, were clearly dodgy. Sadly this goes on all over the country, and the kind of grooming that was undercovered is exactly the same as in Rochdale (another hard watch 'Three Girls' but a must). I feel so lucky that I had a good family, and despair that so many like Charlene don't.

I watched this the other night. The two accused were seriously dodgy imo but yes I think her parents seriously let her down. A very strange situation and was interesting that they moved to Blackpool in the 4 years prior to her disappearance l. They'd previously lived in Coventry and Walsall and had social services involvement. She had a very traumatic childhood it seems.

Although the 2 men were indeed very dodgy the fact that so much has been reveleaed since scares me because it was obvious Jan Beasant (bitter and vicious woman) and the other police officer were so forcefully trying to pin it on those two but why????
Why did they try to force girls to give evidence against them?
Why was the fact that Charlenes mum had paedos in and out of the house ignored for years and the fact that she did even report her missing til days later?
The convicted paedophile who lived above 'paki alley', why was that ignored?

Just seen this. Dear God almighty. I hope and pray she just ran away, unlikely as it seems. Dodgy kebabbers and dodgier parents. Have a lot of questions I'd like to ask those police whose enthusiasm to fit someone up, 70s style, would cause me to look a lot more closely at them and their own friendship circles. Awful. Poor kid.

Rez

Did anyone else read the book because of this?

There are far too many questions still unanswered here.

Louise0701 · 17/02/2020 18:04

TheQueef · 17/02/2020 18:06

It was on channel 5.
A while ago but still in search, I'm rewatching episode 3.
