This is the thread for Episode 9 (season 3) of The Handmaid's Tale.

We are watching on Channel 4, UK pace and have only seen episodes 1 - 8 so far.

Please, NO SPOILERS.

I can't believe we're up to Episode 9 already! I hope it all starts coming together in the next five episodes.

As I was saying I found the episode boring and just wanted something to happen. Maybe I'm not in the right mood for it. I just feel alot of episodes are just filling time.

Coming back to the Handmaid's Tale...

If June did manage to get children out surely all the plot armour in the world wouldn't save her from the wall. So would she somehow manage to do it in secret?

Harriet Tubman escaped but made repeated journeys back to fetch people, so from the point of view of spinning it out over multiple series, it would work.
However then June would no longer be a handmaid, which would change the nature of the show.
I wonder!

June is really a handmaid in name only now. She isn’t a handmaid in the Lawrence house, she wasn’t a handmaid when she was “on loan” to the Waterfords, she was a PR prop, and she wasn’t a handmaid in tonights episode, when she returns to the Lawrence house it’s unlikely she will be made to be a handmaid. C Lawrence seems to have no interest in that. It’s a bit strange that the handmaids tale is now no longer about a handmaid. Even though she hasn’t escaped Gilead, She isn’t a handmaid.
