I am the night - Alibi - any thoughts

I rely on catch up tv to find new and interesting series.

Have just started this one and realise it could turn out to be really awful, but the first episode was really interesting. About a young woman of mixed raced heritage gorwing up in 60s America. Not sure if it is going to be a thriller or a family drama. And there is a really annoying whit male hamming it up as a brilliant but flawed journalist with drink and drug problems. (Chris Pine - should I know him?)

If anyone has watched let me know if I should stick with it - but no spoilers please!

Thanks

(Have just seen it is based on a true story - tv.bt.com/tv/tv-from-bt/i-am-the-the-night-cast-channel-alibi-air-date-true-story-chris-pine-11364363270489 )

It was much better than I was expecting (pilot episode, haven’t watched the rest yet).
Chris Pine is Kirk in the new Star Trek films.
Was really impressed by the acting and the storyline is intriguing (who’s the night? Is she the night? What’s the night?)
Anyway, I’ve series linked it so we’ll see.

TragicRabbit

Have realised I dont know anything about Chris Pine but he does remind me of the original Kirk.

I hav found it is available to watch all episodes through the UK TV service.

As you say the acting throughout, even the small parts is great.

I have avoided googling the real story as I dont want it spoilt but am enthralled by it.

Should say that I think India Eisley is very good (Olivia Hussey's daughter!).

How strange that BBC2 who have been showing a number of series about Black America didn't pick it up and it ended up tucked away on alibi.

Am torn between binge watching and spreading it out as compared to other series is of such better quality.

I watched the entire series yesterday. It is intriguing to say the least. It moves in the direction of investigating the murder of the Black Dahlia, an unsolved murder case from the 1940's. Chris Pine's character finds other similar murders and is convinced he knows who the murderer is. I thought the series was really good and both Chris Pine and India Eisley are both excellent.

Its based of a true story and the real Fauna is an executive producer.

I have now watched the complete series.

Dont want to let slip any spoilers (EraOfTheGrey!) for anyone watching it week by week, but thought it very good.

So many great women characters.

Have also googled and read up on the real life story.

Strange how sometimes these programmes that dont get all the fanfare are often so much better than the over promoted ones.

I was vaguely aware of the story but I didn't know the details of the murder, so gruesome. I googled the real life story too.

I do think this series should get more attention as I couldn't stop watching it once I started. The only character I thought was weak was the step grandmother. Fauna, Jay and Jimmy lee were so good.

Yes it is so strange that it hasn't had any coverage or reviews.

I thought it very well done, but quite upsetting.
