People watching Handmaids Tale US pace - does it get any better?

So far I have got to episode 6 and have been scrupulously avoiding spoilers because last time I really enjoyed the suspense.
However this time the plot seems to be all over the place...
Does it get any better or shall I just give up and Google for spoilers?

I'm told by a friend in America that it gets a LOT better from 7 onwards. She was distinctly unimpressed by the first half of the series.

It better! I misremembered someone saying it got good in episode six so watched the latest with high hopes. Really disappointed nothing at all happened.
