Look what happened to Mike, he was edited, encouraged, to be the 'bad boy' the 'muggy' one and I know he had obviously other environmental as well as mental health issues, all the online abuse on the outside about him being a dick when they only show such a small percentage of him can not have helped his sense of worth as a person.

Michael is clearly being heavily edited, if we take it as face value id say he was 'abusive' and awful. But come on, its love island.....

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 16/07/2019 10:46

Completely agree with you Bandara. The perpetuation of the silly notion that any islander should follow if they have feelings for the other half of their couple who has been voted off - it's baffling. And so immature.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2019 10:47

There is no way to edit that scene where Michael is abusing ambe to be anything other than it was. And then men's faces showed it.

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 10:48

Oh i feel horrible for Amber too, it defiantly isn't her fault! They are both experiment mice running round the maze but one of them will be absolutely destroyed when they come out in the media and as much as abuse should be highlighted, this amount of editing to create a narrative is really suspect

Nextphonewontbesamsung · 16/07/2019 10:48

@Bluntness - disagree.

Wowee465 · 16/07/2019 10:49

Per Joanna herself in an interview she's given since leaving she said her and the girls, Amber in particular got along fine and she was a great girl. I was quite glad that they did seem to get along well rather than play into the catfight tropes that could have been exaggerated.
The overall interview gave the impression she was never that bothered by Michael (a good thing it seems) as was very passive about it all with a very much we'll see what happens approach, although couldn't really say much else at this point I suppose.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2019 10:49

I also agree and said it immediately Michael didn't need to leave. But he should have handled it better at the time. Joanna was out of line turning on him like that,

But it still doesn't mean he then gets to go and attack amber because he knows people think he's a dick.

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 10:50

@Bluntness100 but leaving out 90% of the previous day running up to that evening, leaving out 98% of the previous week. Just taking it with a very heavy pinch of salt personally. But yes he was acting really odd, really mean, a real arse in that shown dialogue (not that there was much of one)

Funghi · 16/07/2019 10:52

Why are posters on here always so keen to point out that they ‘called’ something on a previous thread. It’s so pathetic, calm down you’re not getting a medal for it.

Bluntness100 · 16/07/2019 10:53

again. It doesn't matter what wrong someone else did. The bottom line is two wrongs don't make a right. Michael does not get to abuse amber. That's it. No excuses. It is wrong,

And you can bet good money if amber had had a go at him, you'd have seen it. So trying to convince yourself it's her fault. That she deserved it, isn't ok.

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 10:54

I think its the programs fault

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 10:55

Apparently its Tommy who is the controlling one in 'real life' and who repeatedly cheated on his ex but who knows whats real and whats not Confused

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 11:09

Some men are abusive in public and private but my mother worked for womens aid for 25 years and a much larger proportion of abuse happens BEHIND closed doors. She also worked in child protection and this is very much the case. I am always more suspicious of the charmers to be honest then a man being a massive 'dick'. That may remind some women on this thread of ex's but is it reminding them of the treatment they received in public or in private?

Either way, it has taken an unsavory turn thats for certain. non of the men are coming out smelling of roses this series, even Ovie who seems very lovely could be the worst! we just don't know

AuntieStella · 16/07/2019 11:24

"Why are posters on here always so keen to point out that they ‘called’ something on a previous thread. It’s so pathetic, calm down you’re not getting a medal for it."

I donmt think it's pathetic. This is a long night running convo, somreminders if what was said in earlier parts can be really handy.

Do feel free to start your own thread, if you are not comfortable on this one.

butmaybe · 16/07/2019 11:27

I think you can worry about the way Amber was treated last night by Michael, and worry about Michael overall.

He shouldn't have treated her like that, it was horrible.
Belle's behaviour was poor too, but she flared up and then resolved it. Michael's resentment has simmered away with Amber much longer.

I agree, the production team seem to have repeatedly manipulated him into a triangle with Amber. He could have handled his recoupling so much better, but instead he chose to blame Amber. I think his pride has been hurt.

I really hope he, like Amy and anyone else who needs it, gets lots of support on the outside.

They are all treated like rats in a lab, and the more you think about it, the more uncomfortable viewing the whole show is. They have to turn sacrifice some of them as 'villains' or the ratings would be crap.

butmaybe · 16/07/2019 11:32

Ovie, and Chris, do seem so lovely though - I wish they'd been in from the start. I don't know if it's because they haven't had as long under pressure but their charm and humour really stand out.

Ovie is gorgeous, and I can now see past Chris's hair that he's very handsome too - why are they not snapped up*??

*new girls will probably sort this!

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 11:32

@butmaybe yes, yes and yes. You hit the nail on the head with that post.

Michael now appears to be a broken toy, rather then encouraging him to leave I bet they keep him in there till the bitter end Hmm Which will be horrible for Amber too.

Its such a crazy show but I'm addicted to it, lord help me

ChampooPapi · 16/07/2019 11:34

@butmaybe and Ovie is ridiculously hot, that is something i'm certain of whatever he's actually like Grin

BenWillbondsPants · 16/07/2019 11:45

Oh I find the 'calling' thing so irritating. It's the new thing that pisses me off at the moment, it's all over Twitter etc too. 😂

Funghi · 16/07/2019 12:13

somreminders if what was said in earlier parts can be really handy.

How?

Love island: Michael pies Amber again.
Poster: CALLED IT

So helpful.

purplepoops · 16/07/2019 12:25

Someone has probably already mentioned this but MM and Tommy have definitely started to feel threatened by other couples.

It's so blatant too. MM trying to give advice about the respect being gone etc between anton and belle. They don't seem thrilled about Maura and Curtis either!

Chipstick10 · 16/07/2019 12:31

Did this happen last year? I can’t recall Dani and Jack behaving as if they felt threatened

Nikhedonia · 16/07/2019 12:37

No, it did happen the year before though with Marcel and Gabby. They wrote weird notes about Montana 'taking over their roles'. Not the same thing, but there is a weird jealousy in there.

Bandara · 16/07/2019 12:45

Why on earth are people saying that Michael abused Amber? He didnt raise his voice at her. AT ALL
Belle screamed and shouted at Anton for ages.

This is so weird. How is Michael "abusing" amber but Belle didnt abuse Anton???

SushiTime · 16/07/2019 12:47

I haven't read this full thread but I'm praying for Amber and Ovie to realise they're meant to be for the rest of eternity!!!
