I was just about to post and ask if anyone thought it was.... well........ just not right ........ can't put my finger on it, they look so adult ....

I think its the makeup

...and the facial expressions they pull...

lol DD is 2.7 and was dancing about the front room flinging her arms about. she absolutly loves dancing, she is always wiggling her bottom or twirling about.

i have said we will get her dancing classes when she turns 3 but i dont think we will be doing Ballroom...its very adult.

My daughter does latin and ballroom! she is eight! she competes against those children but only does competitions twice a year! she wears makeup! but just lip gloss and mascara and some glitter!!!! that is the only time she is allowed to wear makeup!

Dont get me wrong, they're great dancers and clearly talented but that comes across without them trying to look like grown-ups.

she dont have fake tan, false nails and do not pluck eyebrows!!! some parents do go to these extremes tho!!! i am not one of them!!! its basically because of the lighting, that they wear makeup!!!!

why does the lighting mean they need make up?

to be fair i think the kids on this show have actually tonned the make up down compared to other comps i have seen.
these just looked like they had some foundation and glitter

Apparently it makes them look paler!!! And this dance you use facial expressions!!!! but any type of dancing they wear make up!!! tap, disco etc

I too was a little disturbed when I saw this advertised, but when I watched it tonight they did not really look too glammed up iyswim?
However their dancing was a little provocative in places, too much like adults.

yeah i have been to competitions and whatever colour dress they have on their eyeshadow matches!!

chacha - is there any reason for the !!!!'s?

my sister does ballet, they never wore any make up until they were in teh senior class. many of my friends did Jazz and Tap and they only wore make up if it was part of the costume for a show

no no reason for the !!!!! at all! just the way i type!

Make up is generally needed under stage lights.

My nearly 6 year old loved it!
