I cried when Amy was speaking to Curtis also - I think it's because her heartbreak was real, regardless of our personal thoughts on her and whether it was too soon or not etc.

I thought she handled it really well.

Curtis is a complete fraud in my opinion and there's no way he'll go near Maura at all. I would like a great guy to come in for Maura though as I still think she brill.

Would love Ovie and Maura to win as singles. I think Ovie's reaction to George leaving shows how much the guys have frozen him out. Only Curtis seems to have been decent and welcoming with him.

Not sure the new people will bring much to the villa and I was hoping they'd get rid of more people rather than adding more newbies!

Sunshine1239 · 09/07/2019 23:21

Am I the only one who thought the whole thing was staged?

Amy looked totally made up to stay during and after the vote

There’s no way she made that speech and complete u-turn in 12 hours! She’s been told she has to go and they’ve done it this way to make her leave positively, noons else has ever left like this!

As for Tommy and the ‘I love you’- it’s psycho for Amy to feel it but ok for Tommy 🤔

LadyWithLapdog · 09/07/2019 23:22

I’m another one who was moved by Amy’s speech and Curtis’ tears. Amy did the right thing in leaving and I hope she’ll take a break and move on.

Poor Marvin and his locked cracked door analogy.

I’m smiling at the misspellings for Curtis on here: Vurtis and Cutis.

LadyWithLapdog · 09/07/2019 23:25

Curtis told Maura something like “you’d be mistaken” implying she’d be mistaken to assume that now Amy is out that moves them further along. That’s what I understood. I think I’m spending too much brain power on this.

LadyWithLapdog · 09/07/2019 23:27

Poor Ovie, how much of an outsider he still feels.

Bandara · 09/07/2019 23:28

Curtis is a bit weird. He is classicly like some guys that I have met - some of the more dangerous ones.
They pretend to be mr.perfect for the first few weeks, and then they show who they truly are. One of my exes was a musician l, he was like this. And I remember he wrote a song about it
"Paint a pretty picture for the girl outside,
But inside you know that I lied".

I think it is the overly nice ones at the start - that you have to watch out for.

Who is the real Curtis.

CarolDanvers · 09/07/2019 23:32

Curtis is gay and ruthlessly suppressing it. He will come out as bi fairly soon after exiting the house then gradually all his partners will be men and he will be gay without ever actually saying it. Poor Amy. Very wrong what he did to her, he's in it for the fame and further opportunities and he totally used her without giving a shit about how she might feel. She looks like she might have hyper mobility to me. My son has it and the way she walks and holds herself sometimes reminds me of him.

augustusglupe · 09/07/2019 23:33

Sunshine1239 Agree, I said this to DH, she was sat outside doing her usual bitching about Curtis and the next day she’s had an epiphany and he’s her best friend for ever and ever and she loves him so so much that she’s going to leave so he can crack on with someone else.....Passive aggressive bullshit!!!
Something definately happened in those 12 hours that we didn’t see.

readitandwept · 09/07/2019 23:37

So do people think she's been told to leave for the sake of her mental health, or because something has actually happened?

RainbowPanda · 09/07/2019 23:46

Yeah we didn't see how Amy got to this point. I wonder if she's been having on going sessions with psychologist. Maybe the consensus all round was that it was no longer suitable for her. Then I reckon LI have offered her some sort of settlement agreement to go (because I think I read if they choose to leave they don't get their expenses paid? But maybe LI agreed to this because it's in Amy's best interest).

NumbersStation · 09/07/2019 23:47

augustus

To go from love of her life to best friend forever, I'd wager the something we didn't see involved the bumping of uglies. Or talk of bumping of uglies. Involving the penis beaker filler and A.N. br other

Hebdenbridge · 09/07/2019 23:47

I think LI have got it wrong in that they are only showing us 'the story'. They are forgetting that viewers need to feel some connection to the characters to be interested in the story. They need to have shown us more just normal stuff and it would be much more interesting. Only the really strong characters like Maura and Ovie can shine through that

It just leaps from coupling to coupling and without the context it doesn't really make sense

itswinetime · 09/07/2019 23:51

I don't think she has been told you must leave but I don't think she decided it by herself either I think the truth lays somewhere in the middle. I think once the show and Amy were in Agreement they managed it so that it was done in the best way possible and helped to support her so she left with a generally positive vibe.

I don't think that is necessarily wrong in the light of past events the show has to start stepping up and protecting the islanders and helping to control the public reaction to them as they leave is a massive part of that, but I don't believe she goes from the reactions at the dumping and the way she was talking to Marvin to the Amy we saw the next day without a fair amount of help!

Same way I don't believe we go from seeing zero interest from Maura to Curtis to now she's liked him since day one without some helpful hints from the producers

riotlady · 09/07/2019 23:55

Tbh I thought Amy looked the most happy and relaxed she has in a while once she’d given Curtis that speech. I reckon the shows psychologist has gently suggested it and it’s been worked out between her and the producers, which is no bad thing.

I don’t get Maura and Curtis at all. I hope she goes for the new guy so I can get back to liking her again.

Birdrib · 10/07/2019 00:31

If it was 100% her decision why wouldn’t she have left before the dumping in order to save Lucie? And why did she look so thankful to be saved.

I think it was explained to her that with her in there it’ll be difficult for both her and Curtis to find love and seeing as though she doesn’t want to (because she loves him), she should leave.

RonaldMcDonald · 10/07/2019 00:38

Still to see Joanna being in any sort of couple with Michael - I guess that’s for tomorrow? Straight to sleep each night and no notable interest....
Marvin is grim.
I think Amber and Ovie would be a good shout

MunchMunch · 10/07/2019 00:45

Just saw this about Love Island USA...

unique1986 · 10/07/2019 00:51

I think the producers of Love Island are rubbish.
Basically they hide 95% of what really goes on in there.
And I thought Big brother was bad for that in the last few years.

Hebdenbridge · 10/07/2019 00:59

Yeah, we don't really KNOW that Maura shows no interest in Curtis or that Joanna and Michael don't have a relationship...we just might not have been shown

Bandara · 10/07/2019 01:14

About amy and curtis. I don't think the length of a relationship matters.
I was with a guy for two years and we broke up and I was totally fine.
I was with a guy for three months and he broke up with me and I was totally destroyed. I loved him. I think when you break up earlier there is the added pain of thinking about everything that could have happened in the future that is now gone

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 10/07/2019 01:45

Totally agree sunshine it’s fine for Tommy to be madly in love and wearing his heart on his sleeve with his constant cheesy declarations of love after a few weeks but not ok for Amy....no she’s a psycho, bunny boiler etc.

Bandara · 10/07/2019 01:46

Im not buying Tommy and Molly. How can Tommy be that head over heels after four weeks.

I love 50k

Sunflower20 · 10/07/2019 02:48

Yeah I think Tommy and MM are OTT but at least the other person reciprocates. Whereas with Amy and Curtis it was very much one sided, especially after he spelt it out for her and dumped her, she still went on to mention falling in love, marriage, kids, the future etc.

Bandara · 10/07/2019 02:52

I like ovie, and jordan from the boys.
I belle and joanna are quite nice

Louise0701 · 10/07/2019 03:13

Really late to the party, was up with my little boy so have caught up from the last thread but just wanted to throw in my two penny’s worth... a fair few of new contestants year know or are friends with previous contestants so I reckon they have a very good idea of what to expect and they all must see the same things we do. Like a pp said, they’re all arrogant / naive enough to think they will cope or everyone will love them.

ANYWAY...
Hideaway???? I asked a few threads ago why it’s hardly been used this year..... literally once that we’ve seen?? Is this normal?? I only watched for the first time last year but I’m sure more couples got to go in there.
Is this to reduce the “risk” of them having sex on tv and therefore more hate on social media??? Megan was massively abused last year for having sex with 2 guys in there.
