I liked it. Found it a bit confusing initially but warmed to it by the end. Josh is in it! And Danny!

Of course it got cancelled so I'm trying not to get too attached...

I love it. We watched it online when it came out, as we love the West Wing. I'm really sorry it got cancelled, and am waiting for them to air the eps that got filmed but not aired.

kay1981 · 27/07/2007 09:08

I liked it too, I LOVED the WW and was a complete addict. Wot do you mean about it getting cancelled? Is that a t'internet thing? (Sorry, not up on online technology and all that!

Oh Josh!!!
xx

Was about to start a thread on this! Haven't seen it yet as I was out last night, but dh videoed it for me, so will report back later.

Coo-ee! Tribpot! Lilibet! Where are yooooouuuuu?

Ellbell · 27/07/2007 22:39

OK. Have seen it now. I liked it too, although the combination of the Sorkin style with some of the same WW characters was slightly disconcerting. I thought that the chemistry between Bradley Whitford and Matt Perry was good, though.

lissie · 27/07/2007 22:43

apparently the writer p*ssed off the press and they hounded it. slated every episode so even tho it was vv popular it got cancelled after 22 episodes

boo hiss!

MadEyemarthamooDy · 28/07/2007 20:06

22 episodes - so that's all we get. Everything I like gets cancelled (well, except the West Wing). When I say everything...I can only think of "Serenity" off the top of my head but I know there've been more.

lilibetpotter · 28/07/2007 20:16

I'm here!

Just back from France, when was it on?

Hassled · 28/07/2007 20:17

I enjoyed it but probably had too high West Wingish expectations. Plus, there was no Toby Zeigler.

MadEyemarthamooDy · 28/07/2007 20:17

Thurday, More4, 10-11pm - but it's repearted on Sundays so you can catch the first one again tomorrow (11pm I think). That's assuming you've got Sky/Virgin/Freeview.

OP posts:
MadEyemarthamooDy · 28/07/2007 20:18

Yes, agree - it's definitely lacking a Toby

OP posts:
foxinsocks · 28/07/2007 20:18

yes, it was good! They should have put on Channel 4 I reckon, not hidden it on More4. It could have done with a wider audience.

MadEyemarthamooDy · 28/07/2007 20:21

I think Aaron Sorkin's touting round other studios to make some more (sure I read that somewhere) but he wants 3 million dollars an episode (or some other similarly ludicrous figure). We could have a MN whip-round

OP posts:
Ellbell · 29/07/2007 13:08

LOL @ mumsnet whip-round! Don't think AS gets out of bed for the thruppence ha'penny I could offer!

Lilibet (welcome back)... it's repeated at 11.00 tonight on More4.

meowmix · 29/07/2007 13:31

yep I love it. Great writing and hold on, is that Matthew Perry I am finding sexy?! Well that was unexpected.

It is the only televisual light in a world of veronica mars and race to the alter. Note to tv producers: Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

(I only get America Plus and BBC Prime for entertainment programmes here, the level of dross is quite without parallel)

tribpot · 29/07/2007 14:25

Sorry Ellbell, very remiss of me not to have noticed this thread sooner

The hard disk recorder crashed on Thursday night, so didn't record it. I am waiting for Second Chance Sunday this evening, prob won't watch til tomorrow evening.

I'm also trying not to get too attached in a Firefly stylee. Couldn't they cut the budgets for Paris, Posh and Britney's reality TV shows and use them to fund some decent telly instead? (Does Britney even do a reality show?)

MadEyemarthamooDy · 29/07/2007 20:18

Firefly, not Serenity - I knew what I meant (it's the lack of intelligent TV - it's addled my brain )

Tonight is the best night for me - West Wing reruns and the new series of Medium. At least now I have Studio 60 and Heroes as well. Four programmes a week that we watch...do you think we can get a reduction on our TV licence?

Agree they could make some better TV if they stopped making so much reality TV/celeb dross.

tribpot · 30/07/2007 08:13

Ooh, have I missed the start of Heroes? A friend was raving about this (in a good way) to me a while back, was waiting for it to hit terrestrial telly ...

MadEyemarthamooDy · 30/07/2007 22:41

You have, tribpot - it started last Wednesday on BBC2 (double bill 9-11pm, think it's just 9-10 this week). I reckon you could pick it up though - they're still in the early stages of them discovering their superpowers: there's a cheerleading girl who can't be damaged - can throw herself off buildings and walk through fire etc. and her Dad is Something Sinister who is after the son of an Indian professor who was trying to crack the genetic code for people with super-powers and is now Dead In Mysterious Circumstances; there are two brothers who can fly; there's an artist who paints pictures of future disasters (he may be dead or he may not - the time travelling Japanese man saw him with the top of his head chopped off but it might not have happened yet); there's a woman who sees herself in mirrors only it's not her reflection and the 'not reflection' seems to be able to come out and murder people when the woman is in a kind of fugue state...er...it was kind of confusing. Give it a go, they'll probably do a "last week on Heroes " thing at the start.

To get back to Studio 60: two things. First, why is Sorkin obsessed with Gilbert and Sullivan? And second, I can't be the only one who cringed at that musical skit? If you're going to write about how two guys made a show really funny again, you should make sure that the sketches you show are actually, you know, funny.

I'm sure it's going to be better than most of the crud on telly, though. I will put a fiver in the Mumsnet whip-round.

jacobandlysette · 08/08/2007 22:08

i'll match that fiver.

when are the WW reruns on please? Dh promised me the whole big box set when i went on mat leave but ds is now 1 and they still haven't appeared.

Mmmmmmm yummy WW josh

policywonk · 09/08/2007 18:25

They used to be on More4, Sundays, 8pm. Not sure whether this is still the case though, and am too lazy to go and get the telly guide.
