New thread unless someone's beaten me to it.

Nasi northerners don't normally refer to themselves as 'other' especially when it's always done as a north/south divide-style dig. I honestly have never come across that or would say that myself.

ChampooPapi · 25/06/2019 11:00

I think it's mostly my demographic of early to late 20's buying

I'd say its more people in their late (and from what i see over the summer in Bristol) Mid teens more likely buying!

Proteinshakesandtears · 25/06/2019 11:01

Dickybow321 that's awful.

Some people use any excuse to be horrible and abusive

Sagradafamiliar · 25/06/2019 11:02

'Northerners' can be any class as well, not just working class. Yeah. I'm leaving, this thread is full of ignorance, sorry to say, and posters literally asking to be educated on things. I wasn't here for that. If people can't discuss a show without being offensive, it's no one else's fault for not keeping it 'light'.

AlpenCrazy · 25/06/2019 11:02

Surely Amy is a beard? Curtis, psychologist, is super camp, and treats her like a best friend. I like Amy - I think she represents Real.

Fucking adore Maura and agree with pp about great eg to DDs of how to stand up for yourself.

Her self confidence and self assuredness is a breath of fresh air. Her outrage at not being allowed (without the assumption she will "follow through" ) as a woman to talk openly about sex is a masterclass in managing dickhead boy "banter". I'll be showing it to my tween DD when she's a bit older.

Danny is yawnsome. Zero sense of humour.

I find the younger ones all a bit dull tbh. Looking forward to some fresh blood.

When do we reckon Casa Amour will kick off?

AngeloMysterioso · 25/06/2019 11:15

Where do they get the clothes?

Are they their own?

They take their own stuff in but they also get given an allowance to spend on whatever cheap crap fashion website is sponsoring the show each year- this year I think it’s I Saw It First, last year it was Missguided. And they get another lot of new stuff part way through.

Chipstick10 · 25/06/2019 11:15

Maura is absolutely fucking brilliant. A masterclass in self respect. I adore her.

carmenbea · 25/06/2019 11:19

I follow a page called The Outfit Finder on Instagram it tells you where all the girls outfits are from! It even shows where the jewellery they wear is fromSmile

historysock · 25/06/2019 11:19

I'm a working class northerner and I wasn't offended.
Pp kept saying 'no one is saying it's racist to say you don't like the black contestant' but then accusing those who have said they don't like Yewande of being unconsciously racist (only based I assume on them saying they don't like Yewande). It doesn't make total sense.

I think those who want to leave should probably just leave and leave the rest of the thread to discuss the comings and goings of the Islanders without taking it hugely seriously tbh... because it's getting to the point where no one can say anything about anyone (Except Amy it seems) without being accused of something.

I'm having a rubbish time of it at the moment and this thread is or should be, light relief.
Maybe those that feel strongly could start their own thread about the issues they believe they have identified?

fraxion · 25/06/2019 11:40

Amen to that.

Hopefully Casa Amour is up soon, the joint could do with a good shake

Atalune · 25/06/2019 11:45

Forgot all about casa amour!

Agreed. It's all getting a bit silly now.

rockingchaircandle · 25/06/2019 11:47

No one is saying you have to like black contestants! They really aren't! The explanations are all there, if anyone is interested genuinely they can go back and read them. Sorry you're having a crap time and I hope you enjoy the threads. I think everyone has the right to challenge others' opinions though. It's hard for people to have to keep making the same arguments just to hear them dismissed as well. I definitely don't think you have to like the black contestants. I do think it's worthwhile to think about language and how we formed opinions.

BenWillbondsPants · 25/06/2019 11:53

I do think some posters need to remember that this is a thread on Love Island. A reality game show.

GeriTe · 25/06/2019 11:59

Some posters just pick pick pick asking for an argument. One particular poster has been like this since caravan gate.

InsertFunnyUsername · 25/06/2019 11:59

Interesting point about yewande being "aggressive" because she was moody, said how dare he, then told danny what comes around goes around with a moody face on.

Yet Maura was pretty much shouting at Tom to piss off, don't come near me/leave me alone etc, Yet it's funny, standing up for herself. That's what i think posters are picking up on. I know who i think is more aggressive and it isn't yewande.

BenWillbondsPants · 25/06/2019 12:00

@GeriTe Agreed. It's starting to spoil it for those of us who see LI as a bit of mind numbing nonsense. Like me. Grin

Proteinshakesandtears · 25/06/2019 12:03

Its 2 totally different situations.

Yewande signed up to a show where if you aren coupled up you go home. Where you may be coupled with several people, be dumped etc. She also played a significant part on the reason Danny didnt pick her. What Danny did was part of the game show she signed up for.

Maura didnt sign up for someone to expect sex off her. Nothing Maura did, should have led to the converstation. No matter how much a woman talks about sex, its not ok to expect sex.

Proteinshakesandtears · 25/06/2019 12:04

That said, I dont think Yewande was aggressive last night.

I would say confrontational. Which I would also describe Maura as, as well.

Atalune · 25/06/2019 12:05

Is it unconscious racism though?

Maura is funny! She’s been outspoken and witty from the get go!

Yewande has been shown to be very quiet and almost withdrawn and then she’s behaved in quite a sulky way.

They are very different girls. Maura is more of a “what you see is what you get” and so I think her comments are in line with her overall demeanour which love or the is very consistent.

Yewande says one thing, wants another and behaves very inconsistently. I think she’s very childish. Like I said before a brat. Like the world owes her a favour.

Maura I think just goes out and takes what she wants and is very direct.

I love her! M

InsertFunnyUsername · 25/06/2019 12:10

I like Maura, and don't think she was in the wrong in doing that. I dont think Yewande did anything wrong either (except actually entering love island it wasn't the place for her) yes she was a bit moody and could have handled it better, but some posters are acting like she trashed the place and screaming at everyone.

That said, Yewande was wrong for expecting Danny to keep chasing and it certainly back fired on her. So she was the right one to go.

WallisFrizz · 25/06/2019 12:11

I don’t think either were aggressive.

What I found weird about the whole Yewande/Danny situation (apologies if it was discussed already, these threads move fast) is that when she first met him she seemed genuinely besotted, remember all that crazy giggling and bad flirting. Then literally a day or so later she went ice cold on him and then a day after that loads of forced affection and territory marking. What on earth happened to make her suddenly go off him, or give the impression of going off him, in the first place? They had been doing so well.

Can’t warm to Arabella.
Maura is great
I change my mind re Amber on an almost daily basis. Same with Lucie.
I like Anna
I have no problem with Amy and don’t really see why the rest of the uk does.

The boys are all ok but with the exception of Anton, I don’t think I’d be bothered about any of them leaving.

PutYourBackIntoit · 25/06/2019 12:11

Can't stand Arabella, and am rapidly going off Lucie.

I really like Amber and Anna, they seem kind.

I hope Ywande is met by her friends and family who shower her with love. I think she was massively protecting herself in there, unable to fake it and, I spot the signs of being pied too many times irl ('why can nobody want me for being me?')

Sagradafamiliar · 25/06/2019 12:12

Just name me, Geri. 'Caravangate' you mean the racism? Some people don't like racism and will challenge it. I'm not sorry.
I've really enjoyed the threads and contributed throughout, plenty of vacuous, light comments from me. I couldn't care less if I've stayed in anyone's mind because I don't stand for prejudicial shit.

InsertFunnyUsername · 25/06/2019 12:14

They need to bring someone in for Lucie, I actually forget she is in there.
