What d'ya think?

I didn't like the wife - she didn't seem very caring when her DH fell down the stairs!! She seemed very self-centred and interested only in going to work! I know it's hard to be a SAHM (I am one) but I felt for the little girls - what a shame the Dad couldn't give up work.

It seemed sad that she has these two lovely daughters and then decides she just can't do it, better pay someone else to take over!!

Sorry if I'm being too judgemental?? I just think it's very sad - I wonder why she couldn't consider working a few days a week and having a few at home?

Didnt watch it properly but couldnt believe when she went into her eldests bedroom and said it was teh first time she had been in for months?!

I know, how strange!!! They obviously just had a routine for getting out in the mornings - one man one child and one deal with the other, but don't you think they'd have swapped round!?

How bizarre to feel that you don't know your own child and they 'frighten' you and make you feel 'uncomfortable' - very strange.

I forgot it was on And I don't think I've seen that one, doesn't sound familiar, I watched some of them on bbc3 earlier in the year.

I thought it was very sad they couldn't have worked out a better compromise, where maybe they could have looked into part-time work for both of them? OK maybe they'd have earnt less money but let's face it, those kids didn't need a whopping big palace to live in--they needed relaxed parents who wanted to spend time with them. Oh, and I think she needed some therapy. Actually, make that a LOT of therapy. And so did the dog!

Am I the only one who felt really sorry for that poor little puppy. What on earth were they thinking to get a tiny wee thing like that when they were both out all day working. no wonder it was pooping everywhere. I was quite relieved when Mum said she was going part time - at least the poor thing would get some company. also found it quite scary that mum said she hadn't spoken to another adult for a week when she was satying at home. I'm sure some people think SAHM means you're not allowed out to do anyhting like some sort of penance for having the nerve to stay at home to bring up your kids. sorry if this a bit ranty - blame low blood sugar levels before breakfast!!

I thought the most telling moment was when she spoke about having PND. I thought that was the key to it all - then I wondered as to how much help and support she'd had through that and was less surprised at how dysfunctional the family was

I found their final arrangement not ideal either.... she wouild work 2 evenings a week adn 2 mornings each WE.... I mean when is she going to see her husband ???? That can also be a recipe for disaster!

I don't like watching these progs (although I often do !!) - it always seems as if its the mother that always has to make the most sacrifices. Have any of the men ever given up work ??

Did anyone else see the follow up on bbc3 apart from Skate ? She decided after the summer to return to ft work but on a shift basis so that she could spend the mornings at home and do the school run. He would then come home by 6 pm (working in the City ?!) and do evenings, with a nanny to bridge the gap. But the nanny quit after just one afternoon - not much of a reference there ! I felt a bit sorry for the girls - surely once the eldest started school she'd hardly see her mum again. As you say a couple of longer days would have seemed better but was that an option. Wonder how the childcare is working out now too?

I annoyingly missed the follow up on BBC3 'cause visitors came in! I thought she was a total bitch, he so obviously wanted to stay at home. She loved her work so much she should have found a better paid job and let him do what he wanted for the benefit of those poor girls! You could see he wanted to say that.

The treatment of the pup was disgusting, if they can do that to a little dog then it doesn't say much about them. That is why we crate-trained our pup, when I was dressing the boys or couldn't give the pup attention I would let him in his crate, that way he didn't poo everywhere!

I also found what she said about being mum instead of Sam totally offensive. Only two little chaps call me Mummy, my friends and family have so far not started calling me mummy just because I don't do paid work! Shows she must fear she doesn't have any personality if she thinks being a SAHM means that.
