PS kazza did you decide what to do with your Wimbledon tickets?

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/06/2019 10:52

oh, Delpo would always be nice. Even about Djok. Vuk was great.

The clay specialists (pre Rafa dominant era ) are always very useful for getting a good result on Pointless Grin.

Raahh · 26/06/2019 10:55

I have lots of rubbish things to do today.

I have half a mind to see if I can find 'Legally Blonde' on somewhere Grin.

PrivateIsles · 26/06/2019 11:29

Grin it's such a feel good film isn't it Raahh - even my DH secretly likes it. Good luck with your tasks.

Good point about Pointless Grin I love it when they have tennis questions!

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/06/2019 11:41

it's on Netflix!

That's me sorted, whilst I pretend to tidy up before we get unwanted visitors later Grin.

PrivateIsles · 26/06/2019 12:04

Enjoy! (The film that is. Good luck with the tidying/visitors)

Raahh · 26/06/2019 12:54

I must say, this is really cheering me up. I'm up to the Gay Salvatore bit Grin.

PrivateIsles · 26/06/2019 12:59

Grin classic!!

What about the UPS guy and his package?! I love Paulette, she's such a great character Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 26/06/2019 13:03

Paulette is the best - and now we have the perm bit- which always makes me laugh, because for most of my life, my hair , naturally , looked just exactly like hers Grin.

(Not so much now as it's gone a bit thin and more like cotton wool) Grin

kazzaD66 · 26/06/2019 13:09

Private ah, thanks. So that was why he kept banging on about Cock to Dick! I thought it was because of the disparaging things he had said about him Confused

I didn't take up the tickets in the end. I will be kicking myself if there are brilliant matches on that day but I couldn't easily do that day anyway because DS will be back from 2 days sailing that afternoon and so I need to be here to deal with him and his washing Grin

He's doing the Round the Island race this Saturday with his school, bless him, so fingers crossed for good weather and a bit of a breeze!

kazzaD66 · 26/06/2019 13:11

Forgot to ask Private do you have CC tickets for the second Monday or Wednesday?

kazzaD66 · 26/06/2019 13:29

Raahh could Marcelo Rios be one of those Pointless clay courters. I never liked him. I saw him at the veterans tennis at the Royal Albert Hall one year. God knows what he was doing there as I think he was only about 33 at the time. Can't remember who he played but he had at least 15 years on him, which I didn't think was fair. Hmm
Felt a bit short changed, if I'm honest Angry

Raahh · 26/06/2019 13:41

Kazza Rios is an odd one, because he is one of the few men to get to number without winning a slam. Rarely ever happens that in the men's game. Happens more often in the women's. Not even RG, in fact -he didn't do that well there, considering he is known as a clay court player. His best showing was an Aussie final.

I like to keep Mariano Puerto in my back pocket for Pointless- first player Rafa beat in an RG final .Grin.

Raahh · 26/06/2019 13:43

(Puerto was of course banned for taking drugs, so maybe not the most sporting example to use on PointlessGrin).

PrivateIsles · 26/06/2019 17:10

Hope you enjoyed the rest of Legally Blonde Raahh Grin

Good luck to your DS kazza - that sounds like quite a challenge!

We've got CC tickets for the second Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to it, although I don't think it will match up to last year's quarter finals!

Thanks private. He's only 15 and the yacht will be crewed entirely by children....eeek Shock

Have a fantastic time at Wimbledon. As I said before, I'm not jealous in the slightest EnvyGrin

Apparently, the Norrie vs Edmund match has been suspended for over half an hour whilst medical staff are attending an unwell spectator but they are not letting the players leave the court. Doesn't seem right. Djok would be off there like a shot Grin
(Hope the spectator is alright.)

Fizzywinegum · 26/06/2019 18:36

Ooh Private am very jealous of you going to Wimbledon - have a great time.

I’m wondering whether to book a day off work to watch Wimbledon on tv - I was thinking the second Friday but not sure if Rafa will still be in at that stage (voice of doom).

I remember years ago booking time off work and it just rained - I think it was the year that Raahh mentioned a while back. I just sat at home miserably watching endless repeats for a week!

PrivateIsles · 26/06/2019 18:39

That doesn't are right does it - I suppose initially they don't know how long they'll have to wait, but more than a few minutes and you'd think they could go back to the locker room. Strange. Yes I hope the spectator is fine - it's not like last year when people were wilting in the heat - hopefully nothing serious.

Speaking of heat, Benoit Paire has been tweeting about Antalya, saying when his match started it was 40C! I mean, that sounds mad. Maybe he would have been better off getting acclimatised by playing Eastbourne??

Raahh · 27/06/2019 07:15

I can't believe the extremes in weather everywhere has been having, it's really quite odd.

Very stressful afternoon yesterday , so didn't get to see any tennis at all.
Not long now to Wimbledon though!
Quite sunny here today, for a change.

PrivateIsles · 27/06/2019 07:32

Sorry to hear that Raahh - hope today is a bit more relaxing Flowers

I wish Wimbledon would hurry up -- I've always hated the week before, I just want it to get started!

OP posts:
Raahh · 27/06/2019 08:20

PrivateI'm thinking of finding another daft film to fill my time- maybe 'Clueless' is the way to go Grin.

Rafa lost to Cilic at the Hurlingham Club, which isn't that surprising apart from Marin's own lack of form. What was surprising was Marin then deciding that Rafa was a favourite still for Wimbledon- now, I love Rafa, and I would be delighted for that to happen- but I think even Rafa himself thinks that is a stretch (and last year was an opportunity missed). I think Marin is playing mind games Grin.

magimedi · 27/06/2019 08:31

Don't want Wimbledon to get here too soon - as that fortnight goes far too fast.

Incredibly windy here today - which will make the tennis interesting.

Hope you have a better day, Raahh

PrivateIsles · 27/06/2019 09:05

magi should be interesting! Yesterday looked a bit breezy as well? I just saw a bit of the Halep match and when her coach came onto court, his ID pass kept blowing around and almost hitting him in the face!

Raahh yes I saw that result but didn't hear what Marin said - interesting! I would love to see either/both of them in the QFs, hopefully they will both get that far. I'm hoping Wayne Ferreira has given Marin loads of tips and confidence before Wimbledon... we'll see.

Good plan re Clueless - another classic!! Grin Do you watch Chesapeake Shores - sorry if I already mentioned this, I've a feeling I might have! Or Heartland? Both totally cheesy, like those Hallmark Christmas films Grin
