Anyone watching/watched this? Just finished season one. Detective series set in New Zealand, directed by Jane Campion who directed the film The Piano. It’s really quite good. Fabulous scenery, very atmospheric and great acting.

I've seen it and enjoyed it. Second one not as good but still definitely worth watching

ILoveMaxiBondi · 26/05/2019 15:45

Yes I watched it! Season 1 was fantastic. Really loved it. Not sure what charged with season two but I couldn’t finish it. It felt very different and just nowhere near as good. It was a while ago now and I can’t remember exactly what I felt was wrong with it, I just remember having a confused “this sucks” face a lot.

Theimpossiblegirl · 26/05/2019 15:48

I just finished season one and loved it. Hope season two isn't too disappointing.

diddl · 26/05/2019 16:28

Oh I hated it.

I watched it to find out what was going on-the ending was such a (predictable) let down.

Peter Mullan great in it though.

Teatimeted · 26/05/2019 19:22

Weirdly, I loved season two but couldn't get into season 1. I loved the Nicole Kidman character

ginyogarepeat · 26/05/2019 19:24

Season 1 - fab. Season 2 - WTAF?!

BlackToothpaste · 26/05/2019 20:46

Come on, season 2 had Gwendoline Christie, Nicole Kidman chewing scenery, the delightful ‘Puss’, and that scene where Robin sets fire to the curtains when David Wenham tries to kill her. Grin

DontFearTheReaper · 27/05/2019 11:10

Black Grin

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 27/05/2019 11:13

I enjoyed both series but they are very different. Gosh, who could forget 'Puss' in a hurry (shudders)? The actor then turned up in McMafia as the uncle who sparked James Norton's character's descent in organised crime.

Theimpossiblegirl · 29/05/2019 10:34

I'm on the last one off season 2 now and I absolutely loved it!

wetpants · 30/05/2019 18:16

Series 1 and 2 are very different but I really liked them both.

Puss is currently Gorbachev on Chernobyl. He’s a fabulous actor.

Crinkle77 · 30/05/2019 22:56

I sort of enjoyed it but I too found the endings of both series disappointing when you found out what had happened to them. It was not if a let down.

Crinkle77 · 30/05/2019 22:57

Grrrr should have said bit of a let down.

SerenDippitty · 02/06/2019 21:56

I started watching Season 2 this evening and enjoyed it - though it is quite different to Season1.

Is this with Elizabeth Moss? Forgotten that was with Peter Mullan too. Series 1 was quite tragic, the storyline, actually both series were.

Bravelurker · 02/06/2019 23:40

I'm on the final episode of S2, and as much as I loved both of them, I find the characters way too complicated and I always feel like I have missed an episode or 2.

Does anybody else get a real Clarice Starling /Jodie Foster vibe from Robin?

SerenDippitty · 05/06/2019 09:16

Still enjoying - but blimey are antipodean males really as awful as portrayed in this!?

Also, when Robin’s daughter’s adoptive dad mentioned that she was 17 and her boyfriend was 42 - no flicker of a reaction. Odd.
