Anyone watched this?

I just watched episode 2.

I'm glad someone else has posted about this. I definitely felt the family in the second episode needed a therapist working with them rather than just being emailed a diet sheet and giving them a couple of sessions with a personal trainer. I also felt the parents were in danger of sending the healthy weight daughter in the opposite direction (into anorexia) especially when they had a go at her for eating a small piece of French bagette. The parents had a lot to answer for. Why are they buying all the Junk food in the first place if the kids aren't allowed to eat it and why did they let their daughter get to 22stones at 14? It didn't happen over night. Poor kid.

TowandaForever · 26/05/2019 16:46

The daughter didn't seem to be following the plan she was given. She didn't seem to be eating low carb.

The dad and mum were also big but that was kind of ignored?!

Thought the mum giving up work was a terrible idea!!!

Disappointed in this programme. Full of angst. Thought seeing them have some family therapy would have been insightful. Also another weigh in review after 3 months to see if they had continued to lose weight and to see if the family behaviors had changed.

TowandaForever · 29/05/2019 22:20

@Fretfulparent

I would like to see an update on how they are doing too.

Just watched the first episode
OMG it’s portion sizes
Just stop shovelling so much
The tray bake at the start would have done our family of 5 for two nights .
I think they should cover portion size as part of school Home Economics classes

ANiceLuxury · 30/05/2019 20:51

Going to watch the 3rd episode on catch up later.

I did notice that the main person in the shows (the over weight one) never take responsibility for their weight gain.

They blame everyone else but themselves

Galwaygirl · 30/05/2019 20:52

What channel is this on? Thanks

LoadsaBlusher · 30/05/2019 20:58

Yes. Not much sense of responsibility
They need tough love tough / tough talking

LoadsaBlusher · 30/05/2019 20:58

I’m watching on sky tv
Just catch up - 5 star channel
Just searched the show title

Limer · 30/05/2019 21:04

Thanks for the heads-up, just downloaded this to watch. It's on 5-Star Galwaygirl

HopeClearwater · 31/05/2019 21:30

Six weeks later and the girl in the first edition is still over 21 stone ... and she is also still really dislikeable... not sure where this programme is going to go.

ANiceLuxury · 01/06/2019 19:47

How do you know that hope? Have they done a follow up?

Groovee · 02/06/2019 19:16

Watched the episodes. Quite heartbreaking as someone who has lost a lot of weight, but also lots of strops going on and it not being their fault.

Found Sol quite refreshing to watch.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/06/2019 13:39

On planner. Will try and watch tonight

EdWinchester · 03/06/2019 20:34

I am just watching this. The mum in ep2 is awful.

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/06/2019 20:27

Portion sizes are huge !!!!

Limer · 12/06/2019 14:00

I've watched 5 episodes now, not with 100% attention tbh, just had it on in the background. The basic premise is always true - it's ultimately the parents' fault. Huge portion sizes, exercise not encouraged, poor understanding of a healthy diet, etc. And apart from the last episode I saw, it was the whole family that were overweight.

EtonM3ss · 11/07/2019 20:58

Just finished watching this. No way would i have been able to speak to my parents thst way at 14!!
