Hi
Anyone watching this series?
I started googling and grim stories about her home life and parents possibly selling her to perverted men to abuse. Wonder if this will be in part 3.

Sounds interesting, I'll see if it's on the ketchup telly.

Hi op.
Yes watched the first 2 episodes, the last one is tonight I think?
Really sad to think what she must have gone through both at home and whilst in those awful kebab shops.
Just horrendous.
There was another girl who went missing (assumed murdered?) in Blackpool a few years ago, Paige Chivers. Apparently a similar case to poor Charlene. Grim stuff.

Clunt · 23/05/2019 22:16

I’m from this area, older than Charlene though. The most shocking thing for me is the police acting like this is the first they knew of takeaway owners and young girls. It’s been going on for over 30 years but blind eyes everywhere. It’s still going on now

Sagradafamiliar · 23/05/2019 22:22

Each episode has had a different feel. I didn't know much about the case beforehand so the twists and turns have been shocking.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 23/05/2019 22:26

I am old enough to have known about this when it happened and these revelations are so shocking. poor poor Charlene.for years I felt sorry for her parents -now not so much.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 23/05/2019 22:29

Poor girl. Failed by her parents, failed by society, and the police Sad and Angry

1happyhippie · 23/05/2019 22:32

Yeah I watched it too. She didn’t have anyone looking out for her did she? Poor girl.
She was let down by everyone around her.
Even her own mother didn’t report her missing for days!

Clunt · 23/05/2019 23:00

This whole case just makes me angry, Charlene and others (Paige etc) continually let down from birth onwards. With no resolution or support and it is still going on! There are still young girls and boys hanging around takeaways for favours and still people like Rashidi being allowed to foster/let out rooms/run business from Blackpool but he is not the only one. It’s disgusting

loobylooz · 23/05/2019 23:03

What happens next in this case?

Also we're the older men / boyfriends / paedos in the house / men she did sexual favours for in cars ever found and interviewed ??

Such a weird case. Poor kid pimped out like that

I watched this the last two nights. Sad and horrible.

loobylooz · 23/05/2019 23:48

So was Nigel lloyds attested in 2017 and is he still under investigation?
I don't understand

It was very left very open...... i too want to know what happened

LivinLaVidaLoki · 25/05/2019 06:40

I think Lloyd was questioned in 2017 but not charged. But he's currently in jail for other attacks on 15 year olds.
Sorry this may have been covered in part 3 I've not watched it yet.

Powergower · 27/05/2019 08:14

It was so depressing to watch. Them poor
girls failed by every single adult in their lives. I thought the documentary pointed the finger at white paedos in the end, but the takeaway owners were also definitely paedos/ rapists.

What a bleak picture it painted of Blackpool and it's underbelly. I'd always heard Blackpool was a sinister place but didn't think it was as bad as it is.

loobylooz · 27/05/2019 14:47

Also what was the sister covering? Do you think toyou the parents? Like is Becky answered questions honestly Becky would have to say her mum and dad were selling her and Charlene for sex and that her parents knew Charlene was meeting older men at night ?

Why on earth was Becky living with a man in 50s was that a deal her dad made?
