Can someone who has seen the most recent GOT episode just tell me one thing...

Without spoiling it, is it good? There has been a huge amount of negativity towards this season online. I feel that this episode might be the one to absolve them of criticism. Please just let me what you thought of it but nothing about what happen. I am so excited about watching it later tonight.

Oh. That's disappointing to hear ☹️.
They've made a right bloody pig's ear out if this, haven't they.

JaynePoole · 13/05/2019 08:10

It jumped the shark. Like, really did this time.

Dlpdep · 13/05/2019 08:10

I’m invested. I’ve followed the characters. Shit.

I've just watched it, it's a set up for a game change IMHO and worth watching.

Dlpdep · 13/05/2019 08:11

A game change on the last episode? Christ

I kind of liked it. People are complaining Bout what they did with Dany but I liked it.

Is that too spoilery?

Dlpdep · 13/05/2019 08:12

Yes! Shhhhh!!!

I’m invested, followed the characters and I thought it was amazing, so...

I think people are being negative this season because they have their own ideas about what should happen that they’re invested in, and don’t like the writers version of events! Just enjoy it for what it is.

Dlpdep · 13/05/2019 08:14

Yeah, I think they are caught between a rock and a hard place because they will never please all of the people. That said, the season so far has been poor. The music though....The Night King’s theme is a masterpiece.

It’s fantastic. People just like to moan.

Oilyskinproblems · 13/05/2019 08:53

Has there been negativity online? I haven’t read any of it but I’m surprised as I’ve loved this season so far!

Haven’t watched last nights yet - need to wait for dh to get home. Can’t. Wait.

Andonandonan · 13/05/2019 11:03

I’ve been following since the beginning and thought it was great. Had me totally on the edge of my seat & crying at more than one point. Best episode so far this season imo.

BurntSausage · 13/05/2019 11:19

I’ve watched it twice and it’s grown on me. I felt a bit disappointed when I watched it at 2am, but it improves with every watch 🤣 nothing earth-shatteringly surprising. A lot of what happens has been foreshadowed, although some people feel like it’s a departure. It’s an interesting one!

In a way, I do disagree with the writing. Not sure what to do with the High Sparrow story line? Just kill him off. Not sure what to do with the Margery and Tommen story line? Just kill them off. Not sure what to do with the Night King story line? Just kill him off.

Not sure what to do with warging, Three-eyed raven Bran? Don't worry about it, just ignore it. Not sure what to do with Meera Reed? Don't worry about it, just ignore it. Not sure what to do with all of those dire wolves? Don't worry about it, just ignore them.

You know how it used to take a whole season for people to travel half of Westeros? Don't worry about it, in season 6 people can teleport. Hell, whole armies and fleets can pop up and down.

Cooroo · 13/05/2019 17:47

I'm very torn. I've enjoyed all 3 eps so far very much. But then I listen to a podcast and read some forums and people make very good points!

It's very rare that a good story is finished well (Ashes To Ashes was a rare exception) so I guess we will all have criticisms.

I'm enjoying the spectacle and taking this as the TV ending. If GRRM ever finishes the books, I hope he'll do justice to all the themes and characters and make it more satisfying.

GabrielleNelson · 13/05/2019 17:54

I thought it was terrific. I've read all the books and seen the entire series and I am not in the least surprised by the turn things took this episode. Very excited indeed for episode 6. Am I alone in feeling this way?

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/05/2019 18:29

There were clues all the way through about what that character would end up doing so I don’t think it was against the grain at all. When has GOT ever gone for pleasing the audience?

PurpleFlower1983 · 13/05/2019 18:31

I wanted it to be different but I also wanted Ned Stark to be spared, Rob and Caitlyn to survive, all the dragons to live etc. This episode is classic Thrones.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 13/05/2019 18:35

I enjoyed it. You could argue that one character’s decision makes no sense/is too driven by the needs of the arc, but there was a lot to enjoy, (although sometimes in a grisly sort of way).

TunstallTansy · 13/05/2019 18:47

I loved it, I really don't get the constant negativity and moaning about GoT 🤷🏻‍♀️

BG2015 · 13/05/2019 20:09

I too enjoyed it! I didn't predict what happened but I was slightly disappointed with one aspect.

ellenanora5 · 13/05/2019 20:17

I watched it last night and to be honest I thought it was brilliant, I even said to ds1 this morning that I think it's one of favourite episodes, he's watching tonight after work.

bingowingsmcgee · 13/05/2019 20:19

Best ep so far for me.

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 13/05/2019 20:23

Just finished watching it and thought it was amazing and awful in equal measure, I'm quite overwhelmed by it actually. Can we discuss the episode or should I do that n the other thread?
