Is Fiona Bruce biased - Question Time

NotOnTheBench · 09/05/2019 22:47

Watching QT now. Why oh why will Fiona Bruce not hush up hecklers who are being downright rude and then cut off speakers when they try to respond.

She even asks "do you really think that's going to happen?" as if she completely disagrees with the speaker + is siding with the heckler.

The Chair is supposed to be chairing, not joint in the heckling!

No

BumbleBeee69 · 09/05/2019 22:56

Yes, she's a biased spineless cretin.. Grin

Hithere12 · 09/05/2019 22:59

I think she’s awful

EachandEveryone · 09/05/2019 23:01

They are loving Nigel tonight, arent they?

SwedishEdith · 09/05/2019 23:07

She's very weak. I had some hopes for her after the 1st show but she lacks authority. Emily Maitlis or Emma Barnett would be better. But they're both proper news journalists so wouldn't do it. QT is "entertainment".

endofthelinefinally · 09/05/2019 23:09

She isn't chairing the discussion at all. It is just a shouting match.

shortsaint · 09/05/2019 23:20

It's inflamed by the panel. And the audience are mainly heated brexiteers.

The 2 voices of calm and sense are Soubry & Rudd. Oh and Labour guy is ok.

endofthelinefinally · 09/05/2019 23:22

Nigel Farage is so rude. Talking over everybody.

shortsaint · 09/05/2019 23:26

Yes. He has such an ego. I loathe him passionately.

shortsaint · 09/05/2019 23:29

He is literally making his policies up as he goes along.

And allowing inherent racism. God how I wish he could be ill enough that he was reliant on a doctor that
trained abroad.

BumbleBeee69 · 10/05/2019 00:12

He is literally making his policies up as he goes along

as they all are... Hmm

Medievalist · 10/05/2019 00:24

I don't think she's very good at all. The role of the chair is to manage and facilitate discussion, showing no bias. She doesn't cut the mustard as far as I'm concerned. She's far too abrasive and I hate the way she cuts people off and talks over them. She should have been much much harder on that odious, arrogant little shit Farage.

AutumnCrow · 10/05/2019 00:30

Thank gawd Anna Soubry was there.

Bruce isn't very good tbh.

Dreamscomingtrue · 10/05/2019 00:38

Anna Soubry is an arrogant arse, in my humble opinion, she should represent her constituents, that’s what they voted her in for, in the last general election. The BBC is always biased, very left wing these days. Rare that there is even one person on the panel that supports Brexit. This Week is a much better programme and generally much more balanced with the guests that they have on.

BumbleBeee69 · 10/05/2019 00:58

Dreamscomingtrue

yes I agree

Dana28 · 11/05/2019 05:24

Soubry came across as a pompous dope with her stupid comment about Norway leaving the EU, and then blaming Labour Party for yer by-election candidate standing down. Lamb to the slaughter at the hands of farage!

HoneywithLemon · 11/05/2019 06:16

The BBC is very left-wing these days?? Are you sure about that? Many of its key political contributors Eg John Humphries, Nick Robinson, Andrew Marr, Andrew Neil could hardly be described as left wing.

The BBC is more interested in entertainment nowadays than trying to get at the truth. Hence the appearance of the con man Farage 33 times now on BBCQT! I appreciate that the BBC seeks to be impartial and to balance opposing views. But this opens the door to snake oil salesmen like Farage and unaccountable stars of the right and friend of Tory donors like Isabel Oakeshotte who is almost as ubiquitous. (My complaint that the BBC put Oakeshotte up against Carol Cadwalladr on Newsnight in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal got short shrift, yet the BBC's policy of falsely equating the two meant that the truth was not sought and the viewer none the wiser about the issues concerned).

I would like to see the BBC challenge the opinions of Farage et al and seek the truth and not just present what they perceive as balanced views which often leads to brexity journalists and other randoms standing against serious politicians and journalists who have done their homework and are happy to deal in facts and not opinions, soundbites, slogans and propaganda. A robust approach does not mean bias follows if everyone gets the same critical treatment. In this post-truth, fake news era, we should demand it.

I am careful to stick to Channel 4 news these days. They are happy to challenge all comers. You don't often see Mr Farage on that show as a result.

NotOnTheBench · 11/05/2019 13:40

I originally posted as she just wouldn't let Anna Soubry finish + didn't step in to shush the audience but realised she was like that to all the panellists.

She should be stepping in to let everyone get their points across, including the riled up audience. David Dimbleby was a master. Maybe Fiona just needs a bit more experience? It's a tough gig.

You must have been watching a different show to me if you didn't see fiona shush the audience

BumbleBeee69 · 11/05/2019 13:50

Fiona Bruce is not fit for the role.

BestIsWest · 11/05/2019 13:52

I’m just watching now and Bruce is fucking awful.

areyoubeingserviced · 11/05/2019 13:53

I think that she needs a little more time to develop her ‘ chairing ‘ skills.
Btw, cannot stand that odious cretin NIgel Farage

areyoubeingserviced · 11/05/2019 13:55

Tbh- I only realised how good DD was when Fiona Bruce took over

Hithere12 · 11/05/2019 14:03

She’s so cringeworthy and wooden. They could have picked any woman for that role and it’s such a bad choice.
