Me! Sorry its a bit late just watched episode 6!

winewolfhowls · 29/05/2019 23:11

It's my guilty pleasure!

NotSoThinLizzy · 29/05/2019 23:17

Finish it the day it came out 😂 yay for binging. Waiting to see if next season gets announced

CaptSkippy · 29/05/2019 23:21

I used to watch it, but I found Lucifer's perpetual daddy's issues getting tedious.

WineCheeseSleep · 29/05/2019 23:23

Yes love it!

I’ve got Netflix but not Amazon so I’ve watched a bit of the first episode of season 4. (I liked the original comics but wasn’t a proper fan)

Conclusions:

  1. Mr Ellis can certainly sing and has charm.
  2. I cannot, however, get past the speaking accent he’s using, which is utterly ludicrous.
  3. Episode 1 of season 4 is way too late to start watching this even though I they are trying their hardest to drip feed catchup details into the dialogue Sad
  4. I refer you to my user name
  5. However I totally see why people who’ve watched it from the start (and can get past the accent) might find it highly entertaining
TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 30/05/2019 18:07

Tom Ellis sounds a little more 'precise'in his pronunciation than he does compared to other things he's been in. But i think that's to convey the smugness Lucifer has. Not arrogance just smug.
Series 1 was excellent. He was more menacing when he turned on the red eyes, and the flashes of devil face had more impact than the full thing. Even his voice changed. I think he needs to bring the full menacing bit back to really contrast with the camp playboy bit.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 30/05/2019 18:08

wakemeup i cannot wait for Good Omens, although nothing can be as good as the pictures Terry P and Neil Gaiman paint reading that book.

redbedheadd · 30/05/2019 18:26

I am not convinced this was the best series

I watched it all the same day it was released. Tom Ellis does have a really put on accent but I think the character needs it. It adds to his smarminess.

It's good that Decker finally knows but where's it going from here though?

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 30/05/2019 19:35

This series is proving better than the last Prime one. There wasn't enough 'devil'stuff. Bit too angsty.
Series 1 and 2 were great. I'm finding this one more engaging to be fair.
Although Eve's voice is annoying me.

redbedheadd · 30/05/2019 19:41

Maze singing !! 😲😲😲

Watched it in two days. This is my guilty pleasure too. Tom Ellis basically plays the campest man on Earth. But the connection with Chloe and when he's topless makes me forget the campness.

I didn't like Chloe in this series at all though. She was really out of character and it's not as good that she knows who he is now.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 03/06/2019 11:16

Actually Chloe was slightly less irritating to me this series but I think they could make her a bit stronger as a character. She seems very ... dithery. I've got 1 more episode to watch!

WakeMeUpWhenGoodOmensIsOn · 03/06/2019 14:37

For obvious reasons I’ve just signed up for a 1 month free trial of Amazon Prime so we’ve all gone back to Series 1 to give it a go and we’re actually enjoying it very much. Tosh, but good tosh.

ChesterDrawsDoesntExist · 03/06/2019 17:22

That reminds me, anyone with a monthly EE contract can get 6 months free Amazon Prime video right now. You can get all series of Lucifer (til Netflix saved it) watched in that time as well as David Tennant and Michael Sheen's 'Good Omens'!

CSIblonde · 03/06/2019 19:46

Watched a few. But the actor is playing it too light. I wanted it more sinister, like that Swedish guy in the new Hannibal series (Mads something: he's bloody chilling).

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 04/06/2019 23:36

Watch until the end of episode 10 of the Netflix season. Much more sinister and the contrast from the light frothy night club owner to the King of Hell is excellent. I think Tom Ellis plays it well.

thegreatcrestednewt · 04/06/2019 23:38

Too camp for me, plus the fake red eyes are off putting.

Tom Ellis is gorgeous, though. But he was better-looking in Miranda - has he had work done? Fillers? He looks puffy...

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 07/06/2019 09:08

Wooo! Season 5 (final one) confimed.
Tom Ellis is lovely I agree. I think his face is made up to be 'LA perfect' in Lucifer.
In Miranda his beard wasn't an exact line and his hair wasn't moulded. I prefer how he looks in Moranda but I donthink he shows quite a talent playing Lucifer. He changes from camp as Christmas to dark and menacing really convincingly. More so in season 1, although season 4 was great.
Ive read some of the Lucifer graphic novels and they are nothing like this TV show.
I think Tom Ellis has made this part his.
The other characters are great too. I think Rachael Harris (Linda) is a fab actor.

TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 07/06/2019 09:09

I do think, sorry fingers are swollen today and on my phone so typos galore!

redbedheadd · 07/06/2019 09:54

I'm quite glad the next one will be final season actually as sometimes shows run for too long and just get ridiculous.

Does anyone watch A Discovery of Witches? Speaking of smouldering dark men 🥰

OP posts:
TheFrenchLieutenantsMonkey · 07/06/2019 10:13

Totally agree about the timing of theend being right. I love Supernatural but they're onto their 15th season (final) and it feels a little forced.

Itsagrandoldteam · 07/06/2019 10:25

Oh no, I'm actually really disappointed that season 5 will be the last one. I love Lucifer, but I do think that season 4 wasn't as good as the previous 3. I hope we get more episodes in season 5.
