Anyone else watching it? What do you think? Do you think it will make a difference to the teens partaking?

A couple of them are very unlikeable. I feel for the parents and hope this works for the kids.

I’ve got a bit of a soft spot for hugh.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 29/04/2019 21:38

Very hard for the grandad seeing her follow in her mums footsteps

HollowTalk · 29/04/2019 21:39

Hugh is the one whose mum says he's very manipulative, though.

I started a thread on this - didn't see this one.

I would have been terrified when those guys were banging on their cell doors.

HollowTalk · 29/04/2019 21:43

The boy called Tunde isn't going to learn.

fblake · 29/04/2019 21:51

Tunde is the naughty one - not sure how this will turn out for him. Poor Huge is getting isolated from the rest of the group. He needs to try and pull himself together Sad

@HollowTalk that big guy in the cell at the beginning looked like he wanted to eat them! 😵

fblake · 29/04/2019 21:53

@BigSandyBalls2015 yes ☹️ poor guy

That bit about "I'll put salt on your ass - it tastes better with salt" made me want to scream!

fblake · 29/04/2019 22:00

😱

Hugh is spoilt and comes from a relatively privileged background.
He needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Aeroflotgirl · 30/04/2019 14:01

I am watching this now as I recorded it, if this does not change them nothing will! It is tough in that US prison, I think tougher than UK jail's.

Flaverings · 30/04/2019 14:45

I’m not sure about this. I’m not sure that a cure for toxic masculinity is shouting, bullying and humiliating men!

Lila(?) made me laugh, I’ve known so many lasses like that, pushing every boundary and often showing a false willingness to comply.

Winterfellismyhome · 30/04/2019 14:48

Tunde really doesnt care. Feel sorry for his mum

Greeborising · 30/04/2019 15:16

I’m loving this programme!
I think for some of the kids it will scare them shitless and hopefully make them rethink their choices.
That said though, some of them live in areas where it will be difficult for them to clean up their act, due to crime, the people they hang out with etc

Flaverings · 30/04/2019 16:58

I really didn’t warm to Hugh. What is it people find sympathetic in him?

Fruityfruitcake · 30/04/2019 22:31

What channel is this on?

wizzywig · 30/04/2019 22:34

Hugh just looked like a posh boy and lives quite a mumsnetty life (skiing holidays etc etc). Thought it served him right and hope it gets at least ome of those kids on the right track.

Greeborising · 30/04/2019 23:30

I laughed when Hugh’s mum said ‘he’s had every opportunity in life’
‘He goes skiing every year, a pony and a brand new motorcycle ‘
Yes love, he’s had everything he could ever need to make him a well rounded human being.
Sheesh 🙄

fblake · 01/05/2019 12:34

@Fruityfruitcake it's on Channel 4.

I missed the bit where she said about skiing etc! I think Hugh is going to leave before the week is done.

OP posts:
Flaverings · 01/05/2019 17:17

Yes, I don’t think he has sufficient resilience.

fblake · 06/05/2019 21:02

Anyone watching tonight? X

OP posts:
wizzywig · 06/05/2019 22:46

Yes i was watching it. Im really liking the lieutenant. Tough but really warm

fblake · 06/05/2019 22:50

I liked him too, he seems to have made an impact on Tunde. Looking forward to next weeks!

A week there isnt long enough. A month would embed the new routines

bakedbeanzontoast · 07/05/2019 06:31

I think Hugh's had it a bit too easy in some ways. He could perhaps do with knowing what it is to not have everything materialistic handed to him on a plate.
