Argh I missed it. What time was it on so I don't forget again. Is something sinister going on re the body on the beach tho!? Very funny. The actor playing the driver is so versatile, I saw him in quite an old late night film where he was a disturbed ex prisoner having hallucinations re a localmurder & it was riveting.

i just watched 3 episodes on iplayer last night, i dont know when it was on though

I watched all six episodes on iPlayer. It is an ongoing story rather than individual episodes. It got better as the series went on - very subtle but timely and topical without being judgemental. Quite moving too. Recommended.

Just finished the series, I enjoyed it, was very good. agree it was subtle

Saw the first 2 episodes last night and really enjoyed it.
(Also lovely spotting somewhere you've been recently ! Yes I admit visiting Bognor)

Lottapianos · 17/04/2019 20:38

It's an odd little program. Very enjoyable and bleakly funny

Moanranger · 17/04/2019 21:42

Toby Jones, great actor, also co-wrote, I think. I live near Bognor, so recognise parts, also local references, I am sure it is getting laughs from locals. The running theme of immigrants is very Bognor. References to Butlins (“You can always get a job at...”). Obv one of the writers knows area well.
Also enjoyed Jones in Detectorists, and another series where he played a financier in an upwardly mobile south London family, completely different role.
Haven’t watched it all; like to pace myself.

Cooroo · 20/04/2019 21:37

Just finished watching and thought the thread needs a bump! I loved Detectorists and this has a similar feel. It's darker and touches on so many themes.

Scratched my head for a while before realising his daughter is Eponine!

ch3rrycola · 20/04/2019 21:43

Only watched two enjoying it so far

Davros · 20/04/2019 22:10

I think this is trying too hard to be Detectorists and failing. I watched three episodes - meh

Walney · 20/04/2019 22:13

Toby Jones is an incredibly underrated British actor and I love everything he's been in. I still love rewatching Detectorists but this was still a quirky drama which I also watched all in one go on iplayer.

Horsemad · 27/04/2019 00:26

Really enjoyed this, after wondering if I would!

Katinski · 27/04/2019 11:34

I binge watched the entire series the other day on iplayer, loved the detectorists and he voiced Rembrandt in the programme about him too.
He does quite a bit of radio work and his middle america accent is good as well.Smile
