Recommendations for new show to binge watch

I’m currently (very slowly) knitting a blanket and I mainly do it in the evening with tv, and I need a new show to watch an episode or two of a night while I knit. Preferably a drama rather than a sitcom, and despite being slow I’m a relatively proficient knitter so can watch a show that requires concentration while I knit. Any recommendations??

Shows I like:
Greys anatomy (plus other Shonda Rhimes shows, scandal etc)
Line of duty
The crown
First few seasons of house of cards
Downton abbey
The good wife + the good fight
Game of thrones

Shows I didn’t like/have no interest in:
Breaking bad
Orange is the new black
Riverdale

Behzat Ç or El Marginal are both like Line of Duty x

If you like Grey's anatomy then I think you'd like the Chicago Fire/Chicago Med/Chicago PD family of shows.

Madam Secretary is good and quite like Scandal/the good wife.

Justified is a great US police/crime drama that I never hear much about.

Peaky blinders is fab, or what about the Americans or the first True Detective?

The West Wing is the best TV show of all time and I think everyone should watch it Grin

MeredithGrey1 · 10/04/2019 19:29

Ooh thanks, I think I’ll start with madam secretary and see how I go.

Yeah I’ve seen killing eve, really liked it. Now just waiting for series 2 to start.

New Amsterdam on Amazon Prime
Is fab and a bit like Grey's anatomy - only one series so far but definitely worth a watch.

We have very similar taste and I loved The Durrells, Fleabag and Cheat

PCohle · 10/04/2019 20:23

The Durrell's is amazing Sunday night TV.

How to get away with murder is great (by the same producer as Grey’s)

cheapskatemum · 10/04/2019 22:05

Another vote for Peaky Blinders, similar era to Downton, somewhat different class & location.
Spooks (might need too much concentration though!)
Call the Midwife

Forgot to list The Good Doctor! Both DH & I love this, but we do have a son with ASD who is about the same age as Shaun.

The Last Kingdom

Best tv programme ever made

Nothing even comes close

Mommaof2x · 11/04/2019 02:45

Agree- orange is new black so boring and slow.

Dynasty is good if you have Netflix

cheapskatemum · 13/04/2019 19:40

I’m glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t get into Orange is the New Black,

GrandmasNightie · 13/04/2019 19:48

Just started Bodies - only heard about it from MN. Bloody brilliant! On iplayer
