Anyone else watching? I love Nicky so much, I wish I could speak Danish! The scene between him and Lena in the mental hospital was excellent. Both such good actors.

I am! Only watched episode 1 so far as it doesn’t seem downloadable yet?

It’s possible to learn danish from an app called Duolingo, I’m doing Swedish at the moment.

midsomermurderess · 09/04/2019 12:12

Really enjoying it. Liking that Nikki is going to college to study business. Like Stringer Bell in the Wire. All the better to run his putative drugs empire.

itsallsoobviousnow · 09/04/2019 15:06

This series seems (even) more sombre than the last one. Nicky started out as a lovable rascal in series 1 didn't he? No longer!

Can anyone remind me what happened to Mads at the end of series 2 - did he resign? I'm assuming we won't see him in this series.

And what happened to the woman with the young son - terrible that i can't remember her name as she was a major part (not Nicky's wife, the lawyer).

pineapplebryanbrown · 09/04/2019 15:11

obvious I'm going to have to watch series 1 and 2 again to refresh my memory. The lawyer was Claudia. A shame Bimse is dead, i really liked him and Nicky together.

Esben Smed (Nicky) is a great actor, you see everything playing across his face.

I can't find Series 1 and 2 on BBC iPlayer. Is it better to try to find them and watch them before I watch series 3?

pineapplebryanbrown · 09/04/2019 15:21

It's on Amazon, do you have that? Or DVDs on eBay are pretty cheap now as not new. I would watch them in order if possible.

LilyRose88 · 13/04/2019 14:03

Okay thanks that helps. I will look on Amazon.

Pilcrow · 13/04/2019 21:55

I was going to start a thread asking if anyone else was watching this Grin

Poor traumatised Alf. He's going to get into so much trouble with Isa (who was Rie in the first series of The Killing, wasn't she?)

I'm really enjoying this but yes, it's much, much darker.

pineapplebryanbrown · 14/04/2019 09:20

Do you think it's even darker than last series. Poor Lala will end the same way as Bimse. I'd like to see more of Lena (Nicky's ex) is she going to get back with Nicky?

OP posts:
Silverstar20 · 14/04/2019 10:19

I love this series. It's all going to end in tears, especially for sad, neglected, overlooked Anna - but she will enjoy herself while it lasts as she becomes a different person at "work" (money laundering) and in the bedroom.

pineapplebryanbrown · 14/04/2019 15:05

Nicky is becoming human again, forming a friendship with Lala and trying to get Milas back. That will be his downfall. Going to have to rewatch series 2 to remember what happened with Mads Justesen, Alf's partner. Wonder if Alf will end up dead? He'll be the only person driving an investigation into Nicky.

OP posts:
pineapplebryanbrown · 14/04/2019 15:09

Pilcrow yes i was trying to place Isa, she's Troels' gf from The Killing - i could rewatch that too! I love the Danish noir stuff, so dark. Or mørk?

OP posts:
pineapplebryanbrown · 19/04/2019 10:57

I've just rewatched most of season 1, it's so good! I'd forgotten that P the Swede blows Andreas the drug dealers head off and Bimse rescues Andreas' dog.

CountFosco · 23/04/2019 23:23

Loved series 1, found series 2 really dark, not sure I can cope with it getting even darker!

pineapplebryanbrown · 05/05/2019 16:14

So Nicky is dead. Is Alf dead too? Sad it's all over but unfortunately this season wasn't a patch on the previous 2.

OP posts:
Invisibleiink · 05/05/2019 20:29

That was a really sombre ending. The car Nicky was in at the end didn't look armoured, or even like a police car - had he been hijacked again? Would have thought that the police would have taken more care this time.
Alf - so this was 4 months later, so had he ever kicked the addiction? Surely it would have been better to get medical help to do that rather than going cold turkey? I do hope he isn't dead. I don't remember him being so sad in series 1 and 2 - did something terrible happen at the end of series 2 (his new girlfriend/journalist was killed wasn't she - can't quite remember)?
Did the bank manager ever recover, or don't we know?
Is a 4th series planned? I think they need to go a bit more upbeat if so!

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 06/05/2019 13:09

I thought it was all going to end really, really badly for Anna until she was invited into the swanky HQ.

Lots of questions about Alf ... did he take an overdose??

Nicky was such an interesting character, I kept changing my mind about what I wanted to happen to him. But who was it who killed him, and how did they know where he was?

Invisibleiink · 06/05/2019 13:17

Yes I think the implication was that Alf was taking an overdose, after, um, can't remember her name, had made clear that it was completely over between them.

I assumed the shooters were part of the police chief's gang - though I suppose they could have been part of Lala's gang - Nicky had a lot of enemies by this stage! But corrupt policemen/prison officials would have been able to find out where he was, when he was being transported etc. And ensured no bullet proof car.

This series did try to create some sympathy for Nicky I agree, but wasn't he responsible for the death of the teenage girl he abducted in series 2? (I may be misremembering details slightly). That was awful.

ICouldBeSomebodyYouKnow · 06/05/2019 15:01

Most of the time Nicky came across as really cold and calculating, except where Milas was concerned. Wasn't enough in the end to redeem him!

S3 without key characters from the earlier series was odd at first. Bimse and Nicky were a great double act, and I was sorry to hear about Bimse's "accident". Mads resigned apparently. There was humour in the first 2 series that was distinctly lacking in S3.

Will they make any more? Maybe Alf didn't overdose / somebody found him. Or Stine will be the lead cop. Maybe Anna will become a key character: Following the Money is her job, after all.

Invisibleiink · 06/05/2019 15:09

Did we see Bimse die in series 2? - I had a feeling we did, but obviously watch too much tv to remember it properly!

Active policing does not suit Alf - he seemed happier when he was analysing bank accounts and financial statements. Perhaps he should go back to that if he survives - please let him!

I agree if there's a series 4 a little more cheeriness would be welcome!

pineapplebryanbrown · 08/05/2019 09:51

Bimse died in Series 2. P the Swede who Nicky was working for killed him and Nicky killed P.

Nicky had kidnapped the teenage girl and was in his usual quandary assassin/nice guy. She ran away and he chased her shouting he wouldn't hurt her but she was so frightened she fell down a hill and got impaled on some wood.

Nicky rescued her and carried her to some loggers who got her to hospital but she died there.

Invisibleiink · 08/05/2019 10:18

Thanks thigh - I'd completely forgotten the details about Bimse. So when Nicky seemed to be talking about Bimse's death earlier in the series, implying that he killed him, that wasn't true? (He told someone a story about an accident to intimidate the person, didn't he? Maybe I misinterpreted - I thought it was a reference to Bimse.)

Yes, I vaguely remembered that Nicky didn't mean to kill the teenage girl - but once you abduct someone all bets are off really aren't they, so I'd say he was responsible for her death. Maybe the only person he deliberately killed was P, who had killed his best friend - but I still felt little sympathy for him! I hope his ex partner recovers and can take care of Milas. soon - her father was right to think Nicky was very bad news!!

pineapplebryanbrown · 09/05/2019 11:44

Link When Nicky was talking about Bimse's death to the mechanic who wanted extra money that was just to intimidate him, yes. I agree he was responsible for the teenaged girl's death - he had o abduct her because of her grandfather - can't remember the details about that bit - will have to rewatch!

Lena (his ex-partner) seems to have been hospitalised several times and I don't think she has any particular intention to reclaim Milas. She said to Nicky that Milas was happy and stable with her aunt and uncle.

Lena said to Nicky in one of the previous seasons that he lied and ducked and dived because he just couldn't help it. Nicky said well what can you do if you're not born with a solver spoon up your arse and she says nonsense it's because you can't stop yourself.

Lena's father was also very bad news, must she was largely unaware of it.

Even when Nicky was attempting to get Milas back he just couldn't sit still and kept slipping out to deal with business.

Can you tell I've been rather over-involved with this! I loved the NIcky character, so well drawn and wonderfully acted.

Where can I watch this please ?

Invisibleiink · 10/05/2019 07:38

Series 3 has just ended on BBC so probably still all on iplayer? But if you haven't watched 1 and 2, I would hold off 3 until you do - as thigh says, the character arc of one of the main actors is worth seeing develop from the beginning! (also 1 is a bit jollier!)
