Has anyone else seen this? It's an animation narrated by some of the characters from the main series.

It's a summary of the recent history of Westeros, particularly the rise and fall of the Targaryen dynasty. I can't help wishing it had been available to watch before Season 1.

Ooh I like the sound of this (am currently working through The World of Ice and Fire book). Where did you watch it?

TheFirstOHN · 26/03/2019 22:13

It's included in the DVD box set for S7.

There are ten short episodes, each a few minutes long. The first episode is available legitimately on YouTube.

The rest may have been uploaded to YouTube if you search.

Thank you! I will give it a look. I take it they're worth a watch? I always like Thronecast for that reason - I love a recap of a backstory.

TheFirstOHN · 26/03/2019 22:41

The animation is quite basic but I found the summary of events very useful. I learned a lot that I had not picked up from watching the main series. If you really enjoy the history, I think there's a book called Fire and Blood (I have not read it) which covers those 300 years in far greater detail.

Is this the one that does a bit of a thing about the Hounds house and history, including the dog back story?

TheFirstOHN · 26/03/2019 22:47

There was nothing about House Clegane.

There were sections about House Hoare, House Durrandon and House Gardner.

Ah OK. I've seen an animation on YT about the history of house Clegane and wondered if it was the same series. Will look out for this series.

Oooh will give this watch..thanks for sharing

@TheFirstOHN Fire and Blood is my next book to read - once I've chewed through World of Ice & Fire (it's a whacking great coffee table kinda book so a difficult read in more ways than one!).

TheQueef · 27/03/2019 07:46

Thanks for this, just what I needed until 8.

Just put a history of Westeros into YouTube. People have uploaded all the DVD extras, it's the actors telling the history and folklore as their characters with some nice drawings as a background (not really animated as don't move)

TheFirstOHN · 28/03/2019 05:16

Ledehe that's the one.
