Apologies if no one in the UK can watch this (I'm abroad and using Kodi) New series based on the true story of Dee Dee Blanchard and her murder. It's a six parter about Dee Dee and her 'disabled' daughter, it's heartbreaking Sad Patricia Arquette plays the part of the mother, in true form she is outstanding.

I so badly wanna see this but can't in my country, watched mommy dead and dearest,

cliquewhyohwhy · 30/03/2019 18:01

God it's so creepy. I've just watched episode 3 and I can't believe how long she got away with everything especially with medial professionals!

HelmutFrontbut · 31/03/2019 20:09

I watched episode 3 today, truly shocking. Does Gypsy have learning difficulties or is that what her mother made her believe?

Where can I watch this in the uk?

cliquewhyohwhy · 31/03/2019 20:27

Her mother made her believe she did. If you watch interviews of the real Gypsy she comes across as really really young. The whole story is shocking.

I don't know where you can watch this in the uk; it might come up on Netflix in a couple of months? It's a true life horror story, like Dirty John.

Are there interviews with Gypsy out there? I really don't want to see them now!

As an aside, the two female leads are outstanding. Patricia Arquette just nails it, and that young girl Joey King!

It’s on Amazon if anyone’s not been able To watch it yet.

Can’t wait to get stuck in to this. Although Gypsy is apparently considering legal action because this was produced without her consent.

supercee · 17/06/2019 20:30

What the original documentary - Mommie Dearest and Me. You can buy it on Prime. My friend and I just sat there open mouthed Shock

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 17/06/2019 20:33

Always been so intrigued by this case, I’m halfway through the act.
How do you feel about gypsy? Do you think she deserved jail? I used to feel very sorry for her but after reading more in to gypsys treatment of Nick I’m a bit Hmm now. She really manipulated him and planned a lot.

Nonstopbuttmachine · 17/06/2019 21:21

I haven't seen the documentary supercee, thanks I'll look out for it.

I've read that Gypsy is appealing against her sentence, who knows what the truth is.

supercee · 17/06/2019 21:52

She's apparently said she feels more free in prison than she ever did with her mum. 10 years for second degree murder in America is pretty good going I'd say! I've just read she's not happy with The Act and is planning to sue.

22Giraffes · 19/06/2019 00:09

I was glued to this from the beginning and binge watched the lot! Unthinkable that it actually happened, and I agree that the acting from the 2 main leads was outstanding!

Afterwards I spent way too long on YouTube watching videos of the real Gypsy and Dee Dee, it's chilling to say the least Sad

Inappropriatefemale · 11/08/2019 14:05

In the UK then The Act can be watched on Amazon Prime Starplay, you have to take out the subscription for Starplay though, but you can binge watch the whole series before you even pay for it, thats if you don’t want the extra channels

Inappropriatefemale · 17/08/2019 09:45

I don’t like Gypsy, she is extremely manipulative and the guy that she used is doing life and she’s getting out in 5 years, this isn’t right, if anything then he should have gotten 5 years too, she knew exactly what she was doing when she got with him, although he wanked in McDonalds for 8 hours so he’s definitely not right. I didn’t like how Gypsy came away with that big goofy smile when she put on her little act, and was her soft childish voice part of the act too?

Put it this way, if I had a son that got involved with Gypsy then I’d be doing everything in my power to stop him seeing her, yes her mother made her this way but I still don’t like her.
