Did anyone watch this? Can anybody tell me whodunnit in the end - couldn't bear to stay up any later and went to bed!

it was the doctor. He thought the woman detective(lousy with names) was his long lost sister (as he was also orphaned after a car accident) and sought to kill anyone who threatened to hurt her.

I personally thought it was a bit over gory at the beginning but I like Ken Stott.

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:04

I mean the doctor who came to the prison (the youngish one). Not sure how far along you got!

bundle · 08/09/2004 17:05

it was pants. the plot creaked more than a wonky old farm gate.

CountessDracula · 08/09/2004 17:07

I like Ken stott too but this was drivel.

I mean - get this

Policewoman taken hostage by prisoners.
Then allowed to continue working with them - right

Then injured prisoners in makeshift ward in hospital where mad junkie doctors and lunatics abound. Policeman guarding exceedingly violent criminal goes for a wee and leaves no one on guard - right

4 prisoners are murdered and the same policeman is still in charge of investigation, the prisoners are not moved to another place that is more secure - right

Honestly i was fuming all the way through

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:07

yes LOADS of holes. I find that so annoying. I mean, it can't be that difficult to make the plot make sense can it?

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:08

yes and Ken Stott allowed to lead investigation even though the person he's investigating took him hostage 10 years ago or whatever...

CountessDracula · 08/09/2004 17:09

Oh that's true, another massive hole

How did it get airtime?

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:12

dunno...sometimes think the TV companies get carried away. They start with a good thing, have good actors/actresses, have a good first series then write some drivel for them to perform in follow up. I still can't stop thinking of Ken Stott as he was in the Vice, one of his vest roles I think.

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:12

or even 'best' roles

CountessDracula · 08/09/2004 17:14

Yes it was great wasn't it? I love that little blond bloke who looks like Malcom McDowell too.

foxinsocks · 08/09/2004 17:21

oh yes he was very good. Can't remember his name now. I wish they had something like that on again. I guess we'll be getting all the new series now (like the new Silent Witness, Spooks etc.) but the Vice just seemed better acted and more gritty than the others.

bundle · 08/09/2004 18:02

I thought Stott was cross all the way through because he thought he should have been Rebus...he looks like my idea of Rebus.

bundle · 08/09/2004 18:04

(and CD - she was - ie the dippy detective who looked like she was waiting until her time as a GMTV reporter came up - left on the case even when her own father had his face peeled off (i assume that's what happened, kept flicking over because dd1 got up after having a nightmare and didn't want her to witness some of the more gruelling bits (or the dodgy acting, come to it)

foxinsocks · 09/09/2004 09:34

ooh bundle, how funny. I ALWAYS picture Ken Stott as Rebus when I'm reading Rankin's books.

florenceuk · 09/09/2004 13:21

Thanks foxinsocks. I can't actually remember the doctor - but I knew it was far too obvious for it to be the woman. Have to admit that every British cop drama I watch seems to suffer from plot implausibiity so that is not an offputting factor (cod dialogue a la the Grid might be).

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 09/09/2004 20:49

oh yes what is all that crap in the grid? Quite enjoying it, but have you noticed every time 2 septics get talking my bucket comes out - schmaltzy crap for the US audience or what?

foxinsocks · 10/09/2004 10:42

yes, that bit at the end where the woman gets made deputy security whateveryoucallit and her 'mentor' is smiling in the audience and everyone stands up and claps made me WANT TO SCREAM aaaarrrrggggghhh let alone the ridiculous watching the same baseball game over and over and over aarrrgghh. And the fact that the Kazak one managed to get onto that tanker with no-one else noticing...anyway, it was watchable at least.

foxinsocks · 10/09/2004 10:43

I mean basketball not baseball duh
