Just watched this, my guilty pleasure, it is the total oposite of all the fakery we seen nowadays on all the reality shows. Tonight was their 40th? wedding anniversary, they redid their vows and had a bit of a do on their family farm, it showed a lovely genuine older couple still loved up and happy with their lot, nice to watch

Aww i missed that episode.
I love those 2.

Yep the perfect antidote to just about every 'celebrity' on tv at the minute. Its all scripted, bull. Vaccous people trying to be famous for doing sfa. Wouldnt know honest to goodness work if it bit them on the ass nor how to think about anyone but themselves.

Its my not so guilty pleasure too but then i am ancient and read all the James Herriot books and watched the original t.v. series😀 We were transported back to a gentler age every sunday night😀 i like how despite the advances in vet medicine they still have old values and quirky clients

The one where they had to get rid of their cows made me cry!

barnconversion5 · 06/03/2019 00:08

Btw do Julian & Peter still get on as they now introduce Julian as his "former partner" & they never mention each other etc?

catzrulz · 06/03/2019 00:13

I've got it to watch tomorrow, they are a lovely couple and both seem devoted to each other.
As OP said, such a change from the fakery and Z Listers who all think they are wonderful.

Julian is at a different practice in the area. Skeldale has changed hands.

Apologies @PickAChew but I can't open the links (& the Yorkshire Post won't load on my phone)!

I know that they have parted ways & Julian now works with his wife but it would shatter my rural Yorkshire dreams if they had fallen out along the way?! I only catch sporadic episodes so it seemed very sudden & unexplained.

I watched it too. Is Jeanie 'just' eccentric in her own sweet way or what?

Re Julian and Peter- the practice in Thirsk was bought out by a big vet company so it's no longer independent- but part of a chain.

Julian didn't want to be part of that. I suspect Peter made a lot of money from it and has retirement plans soon, whereas Julian is much younger and will want to make his own mark on any practice.

Ahhh thank you @JinglingHellsBells!!
