Anyone going to watch this new sitcom tonight at 9 that stars MN favourite Martin Clunes?

Not my cup of tea

triptrapdollydumpling · 26/02/2019 06:19

Dreadful, turned it over!

claracluck78 · 26/02/2019 06:24

I think it was strategic scheduling from the BBC.....put somethings so shite on in the slot before Alan Partridges return and then that looks 10 x funnier/smarter than any new creation

But then I'm a cynic!

beanaseireann · 26/02/2019 07:49

Did Martin Clunes not wonder how he got mixed up in such a dire tv show ?
That was going through my mind as I watched the show.
I switched off three quarters way through and deleted it.

Snugglepiggy · 26/02/2019 07:52

It was absolutely dire.We switched off. I've been really enjoying Islands of America with Martin Clunes and I know he is an accomplished actor - great in Manhunt- but after that I'm not sure I can even watch the next episode of the documentary on tonight. So annoyed he's in this dreadful sitcom. And I know it's acting, and he's a massive animal and nature lover but the fly tipping scene made me furious.

cushioncovers · 26/02/2019 09:44

Watching it now. I am swinging from laughing because he a miserable old bugger and there's lots of people around like him. To be unsettled because he's a bit of a bully towards the kids. He reminds me a lot of my father. Ridiculous stubborn rants mixed with bullying belittling behaviour.

SapatSea · 26/02/2019 10:04

Did I just go through a time tunnel back to the 1970s?

Susiesoap7 · 26/02/2019 10:14

Absolutely dreadful! Martin you have let your adoring fans down!!!!

Rhubarb01 · 26/02/2019 12:59

Another one who thought it was awful. I wondered if they were aiming for a grumpy character somewhere between Victor Meldrew and Martin Bryce (Ever Decreasing Circles). Sadly, they ended up with a character who has no redeeming features at all. As for the fly-tipping, my mouth dropped open at the idea that it was considered the slightest bit funny - Martin Bryce would have been apoplectic! Warren's partner and her sister were just plain irritating - oh, and does dial-up internet even exist anymore?

longearedbat · 26/02/2019 14:51

I didn't think dial up still existed either. I thought the acting by the women was amateurish, and the constant repetition of names was jarring. Just dreadful, I felt embarrassed for Martin Clunes. Utter crap, I suspect it will get moved to a later slot to see out its pointless life.

beanaseireann · 26/02/2019 17:22

I can't believe somebody intelligent working in the BBC thought it was good enough to be screened Hmm
Dumping asbestos in the countryside is supposed to be funny ?Shock

Oxymoron: 'somebody intelligent working in the BBC'

Don't mention Simon Mayo & Jo Wiley, Zoe Ball..... and yes, fly-tipping asbestos. So funny darling! [not]

ch3rrycola · 26/02/2019 19:08

He's a great actor but really didn't enjoy this :/

WheresThatCatGoneNow · 26/02/2019 21:52

This seems like a hybrid of One Foot In The Grave and Ever Decreasing Circles.

And I'm cross because it's supposedly set in Preston (only ten miles away from me) but is actually filmed in Cardiff!

I'm really not impressed Angry
