I missed all of last week. What's this historic murder case and what has Val got to do with it?

The historic murder was a woman called Charlotte has just been released from prison. She was there for murdering her husband, Grant. She was released early, as the lab used for processing the evidence was found to be dodgy.
Val used to work with Grant, she had a crush on him, and sent him love letters.
Rob is reinvestigating the case.
Val has been told to stay at home.
Charlotte is Sid's patient.
And on a happier note DFS got married on Saturday

Gobbyplod has been moved to work in a different bit of the police, his first case is a cold case, Grant hill was murdered 12 years ago, his wife was sent down but has been released as the evidence may have been contaminated. Val worked at the PCT with Grant and fell for him but was turned down. So now they are reinvestigating and Val is a prime suspect. We had a whole flashback episode from 2007 where Val acted like a love sick school girl in a bad wig.
We have no idea if she did it, gobbyplod is investigating which surely wouldn't be allowed ? And gobbyplods old boss is up to something but no idea what, possibly covering up his own mistakes from the first time round.
