Hunted - what a let down!

So not one of the fugitives escaped capture and made it to the end on the finale tonight - absolutely not their fault. A central Birmingham extraction point surrounded by CCTV?!?, what chance did they have navigating that minefield? Not sure I will bother watching next time

It was so disappointing. Last years one was good but this year seemed so unfair. It was so scripted and how we're they able to get key info on fugitives just randomly. For example, how would a member of the public know who exactly to call when they saw them? Out of the thousands of cctv to sift through, how did they find the exact one? And knowing exactly where they were on a particular day and ground hunters happening to be close to the vicinity?

sidesplittinglol · 15/02/2019 15:56

It makes you wonder though, if they can pull out all of the resources/stops to capture a fugitive on a tv show so they don't lose out on £100k and capture them, why can they not do the same to catch actual criminals on the run?

Tralala33 · 15/02/2019 16:15

sidesplitting. Because criminals on the run don't have a camera person following them and then sending pictures of their location to those that are hunting them....

sidesplittinglol · 15/02/2019 16:42

It's not a fair game really is it

DropZoneOne · 15/02/2019 17:29

Just caught up. So disappointed. Was screaming for Frank to make it.

I didn't realise the rules included them making contact with home. That's so unfair. You just have to keep tabs on relatives phones and wait for contact to be made.

Heavily weighted in Hunters favour.

HiHoToffee · 15/02/2019 17:50

Agree, waste of time. First the notebook with 1pm birm, then the trouble with finding helicopter pad locations in the city centre and ofcourse the extraction point itself.

They have been adding more rules every series so why not explain them, we all know it is game show which would be quite boring if the contestants just went off grid, so why not be honest about it.

I did think it was funny when the hunter had to wait for the camera man to catch up when chasing Nate.

lou1221 · 15/02/2019 18:20

I've been getting hacked off with this series too. First of all, they have 'powers of the state', but surely the police are not allowed to break into a house, plant a bug and a hidden camera, certainly not without a warrant?! Then why would you write 1pm Birm??? Is his memory that bad? I would have taken money and said Manchester or something. Then the Hunter only spotted the guy in Birmingham cos of the camera man! Ridiculous, they have go-pros on, they don't need a camera man. Totally gutted the brothers didn't win, screaming at the telly for Frank to get away. Total farce!

TeachesOfPeaches · 15/02/2019 19:24

I was also screaming at the tv and cried when frank got caught BlushConfused

£100k would make a huge difference to anyone's life, but especially if both of your parents have died. Apparently Frank really needs the money to save his farm.

FrigideBarjot · 16/02/2019 09:09

This is the TV programme that I really love and hate in equal measures.
I was so disappointed that Frank didn't make it.
Also, swearing doesn't usually bother me but, I agree with a pp that it makes the hunters seem very juvenile and unprofessional.
A few of my thoughts :
How do the hunters get immediate live access to cctv images or are they all from live webcams?
Why oh why do they all feel the need to contact their mum/sister/wife? It's suicidal.
Why do their friends let the hunters in their homes to access their phones/computers?
Why don't the hunters change their vehicles? The black volvos are getting a bit conspicuous.
I suppose it's all to make for a more entertaining show.

I'm way too over invested in this programme 😡

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 16/02/2019 16:37

Another frustrated viewer here. I was really rooting for Frank and Harry.

How come whenever they get CCTV pictures you never see the camera person? They had video of the girl who was alone (lauren?) walking around at the service station with no camera person in sight.

mateysmum · 16/02/2019 16:50

I agree with all the above frustrations.

It's telly, we all know it's set up and fixed but this was just unfair. The car park was a trap with no possible escape.

The Hunters seem to have magical powers of divination and instant access to every cctv and every APNR / phone record on the planet and the fugitives are apparently all really stupid. Have they learnt nothing from previous series? Answer - they have but presumably the producers won't let them exploit that knowledge. The whole contacting family, not telling helpers to switch off their phones when on the move / leaving a whole internet trail which the hunters gain access to by raiding homes and interrogating people. Bollocks.

I think next series they need to treat both the fugitives and viewers with more respect. Shake up the formula.

ImmortalityMyDarlings · 16/02/2019 18:04

There’s a GoFundMe for the brothers

SweetPeaPods · 16/02/2019 18:45

Glad it’s not just me! I watched the final last night and wished I hadn’t bothered, so disappointing. This series was really poor

User478 · 16/02/2019 22:34

We saw them filming last series, the camera person had a GoPro on the end of a really long selfie stick to recreate CCTV angles. They spent ages in the (small) town centre walking back and forth so they had plenty of footage (and could edit out all the people staring at the camera) so it is very memorable for people to call in and give information.

I think I would enjoy it just as much (if not more) if they were honest about the stupid rules & hoops they had to jump through. (I think there must be bonus ££ for "tricking the hunters" or whatever, otherwise why would they do it?!)

I did enjoy The Heist though (same company & similar idea) on sky/nowtv it was also pretty stupid though.

gamerchick · 16/02/2019 22:37

I've ripped the piss out of it from the start. To me they were obviously hand picked after their defeat last season. It must have ticked them off being outsmarted like that by a young man with autism.

I was very proud of him Grin

BrieAndChilli · 16/02/2019 23:44

@gamerchick
It’s such a set up that I think they choose who wins and loses. They knew If they caught the guy with ASD last series it would have had ramifications on thier ratings so they let him win ( not saying he shouldn’t have but if they wanted to catch him they could have) I was chuffed to bits when he won as I have a son with ASD.
I think they were going for the shock factor this series as normally at least one person wins so they were trying to shake it up and have no one win!!

We should do a mumsnet team. It’s such a random selection of anonymous people on here they would never make the connection l!

origamiunicorn · 17/02/2019 15:39

I agree! Such a let down! The only reason I watch is to see people escape. I think the producers or the Hunters think most people are on their side but actually I think it's the other way round! I'm always "Team Hunted" as I hate the arrogance and smugness from the Hunters.

I think the helicopter should have already be grounded and waiting for them because it's too easy for the Hunters to track incoming flights.

Skittlesss · 17/02/2019 16:04

The hunters cheated. Frank should have got the prize. He had no chance. What could he have done - the chopper had not landed so he would have had to keep running round with all the hunters chasing him and thus, probably making it unsafe for a chopper to land.
