Confused at tonight's episode!?

I thought the recruits weren't supposed to reveal any information? Can anyone explain?

I think it's about knowing when to give some information in order to stay alive and be useful (if it was a real situation). Also they were talking about them being able to identify when their cover was blown and how to handle that.
