I'm rewatching Game Of Thrones......

DragginBallsEEEE · 25/01/2019 00:25

I've decided that I'm skipping all the Theon/Reek/Ramsey scenes and anything to do with the Iron Islands. Also skipping through some of the Yunkai/Mereen scenes as I always found them boring.

I plan to skip most of Arya in Bravos scenes but am loving every Tyrion scene even more than the first few times. And also looking forward to more Tormund.

Anyone else rewatching and skipping parts that just don't appeal to them?

Also, fav/least favourite characters? I cannot abide Joffery and it seemed to take forever for him to fuck off this time round.

I really want to watch them all again but just don't have the time!

RiverTam · 25/01/2019 12:41

I sometimes think of doing a rewatch but I don't like skipping and there's too much I would want to skip!

And I think I would actually find it too violent and rapey. Which it is, of course, always has been, but I think several years older this bothers me a lot more than it did.

Richard Madden as Robb, though . And Jaquen h'gar, or whatever his name was (Faceless man). And even Jaime sometimes.

Willow1992 · 25/01/2019 12:50

Not everyone would agree but I found the whole Stannis/Melissandre(sp?) story line didn't really grab me. I would skip that, and skimmed it in the books.
Also anything involving children (baby from Littlefinger's brothel, Stannis' daughter, Ramsey's stepmother and half brother) upsets me so I would go out of my way to skip and make sure I didn't watch by accident! I am quite desensitized to the rest of the violence (even the really grim bits) but can't handle it with babies and young kids at all. I am terrified that Baby Sam has got it coming!

Omgineedanamechange · 25/01/2019 12:50

I’ve just rewatched the thing and literally the only bit I skipped was the super cringey Ed Sheeren part.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2019 13:10

I go onto YouTube and search out the grim bits .
I haven't "watched" it , but it's been on in the background while DH binge watches.

I really don't think I could be doing with it as a series (I'm not averse to some blood'n'violence. Like Dany's creepy brother getting the Made To Measure Gold Crown ! )

DragginBallsEEEE · 25/01/2019 17:05

I also skip all the sex/brothel scenes as I agree that they just aren't needed after the first watch. Some of the sex scenes are just uncalled for (Littlefinger talking to Ros in the whore house while she pleasured one of the other girls......just why??) so I am happy to skip past those.

It is a very long series to rewatch which is half the reason I'm skipping the parts that I was never fond of.

Always happy to watch Ser Davos though!

We are rewatching again and so far have only skipped the bit with the baby in the brothel.

I have found myself getting irrationally angry at some of the decisions made by the characters knowing what happens to them!

DragginBallsEEEE · 25/01/2019 18:27

Yes there have been parts that I think 'why didn't they just say X or tell the truth' and the outcome would have been totally different for a lot of them.

How are people rewatching it? We have always watched via NOWTV but it only has season 7 at the mo. Want to rewatch before the final season.

OneInAMillionYou · 26/01/2019 17:28

I have been rewatching also, ready for April and S8!

I skip a lot; Theon/Reek/Ramsay bollocks as above, ditto Iron Islands.

Anything to do with the religious High Sparrow ( crap storyline that took the narrative precisely nowhere) Loved when Cersei blew the lot of them up in the Sept.

Also Sons of the Harpy

I love Arya, but hate her scenes with the Waif when she was getting hurt.

I fast forward through all battles/bloody fight scenes, I don't care how clever they are or how many computer programmers were involved in the CGI 😀

Essentially, I am a fan of the plot being character driven and the outcome of events, without having to immerse myself in them.
Very glad they cut down on the unnecessary(always female) nudity in the earlier seasons.

Still very eager to find out what happens in the final season but not looking forward to endless bloody battle scenes with the Night King and his gang.

OneInAMillionYou · 26/01/2019 17:29

I have Sky, and recorded them all to my Sky box. Sky Atlantic is also now repeating them all.

LadyRochfordsIcedGusset · 26/01/2019 17:31

You might enjoy reading the books? The series deviated so far from them during the last few seasons it was like an alternate series anyway.

lotusbell · 26/01/2019 17:38

I'm planning on rewatching series 7 before the new one to have a memory refresh. Wish I had time to rewatch all of them. Hadn't occurred to me to skip bits, good thinking. I've found rewatching definitely worth it, there's so much to take in, repeated watches always bring up something you missed first time round!

DragginBallsEEEE · 26/01/2019 19:42

The High Sparrow stuff was awful but I've only just realised that I think Cersei formed the alliance with them to end her betrothal to Ser Laurus as they outed him as gay. I know her father is dead and there's no-one to force her into it but she needs the Tyrells (for now) so can't just break the agreement by refusing to marry him.

We talked about re watching it all before April. As much as I loved game of thrones I don't think I'd have the patience to sit through it all again, some bits were boring. Might just watch season 7 again though to freshen the memory 🙃

Anonanonanariston · 26/01/2019 19:52

I've started listening to all the books an audible!

blibblibs · 26/01/2019 19:59

We're currently rewatching and almost at the end up f season two. Watch one a night, don't skip any bits but have dozed off a few times!

beepbeeprichie · 26/01/2019 20:58

I can only find 7 and 8 on sky download. I really wanted to start at season 1 again but it doesn’t seem to be there. I’m sure there’s loads I’ve forgotten.

Florries · 26/01/2019 21:14

Skip all of Bran and the Wall.

Love all the king's landing and Arya scenes.

Bobbybobbins · 26/01/2019 21:16

Yep also skipped Theon/Ramsey - can't bear to watch that again. Also the Mountain/Oberlin fight 🤢

Nothisispatrick · 26/01/2019 21:21

The only thing I don’t think I could watch again would be Stannis’ daughter’s death. That was the most horrific thing.

I don’t remember there being that much sex, but I’m sure there must be as everyone always bloody goes on about it.

DragginBallsEEEE · 26/01/2019 23:47

I think the sex was mostly just season 1. From then on it was quite mild.

MinesaPinot · 29/01/2019 09:36

We were discussing the new season, and DH said that he couldn't really remember what had happened previously. I summarised season 7 as follows:-

Jon and Danerys got a bit more friendly than was wise, considering they are aunt and nephew

Everyone’s gearing up for a massive punch up

And the Night King and the undead (or whatever they call themselves) have got one of Danerys’ dragons, last seen attacking the Wall.

That all seemed to make things a bit clearer to him Smile

MinesaPinot · 29/01/2019 09:38

Nothisispatrick I'm quite hardened to most things (so long as it is context of the story) but I agree, that was one of the most horrendous scenes that I've ever seen.

buttyblahblah · 29/01/2019 09:45

I'm rewatching them and really fancying Tyrion pretty much from the start.

I keep being really excited as characters appear, like long lost friends, although most of them will be dead soon.
