Where do babies come from?!

Fully aware this may be a really stupid question, but...

Have just discovered Call The Midwife and suddenly thought – who ARE these babies?!

Where do the babies in series like these come from, and are they really as new and young as some of them look?!

For call the midwife they put out a request for anyone willing to have their babies used which if it coincides with the filming and storyline will get used. They also get alot of people offering up their babies. The scenes with the real babies have to be filmed very quickly and often in 1 or 2 takes only.

Also the babies will be the real life dolls as well depending on the scene.

That's why in some shows the baby will be a lot bigger than it should be be cause of who is available. In neighbours paiges son was massive for a new born who was meant to be prem.
