Just caught up on the first episode of the new series ...
The couple in Bulgaria ...
The lady seems so intense but omg she is like a supermodel ! Natural super strong beauty
The man seems mellow but I felt like both of them admitted they hate parts of it like sitting outside in the pouring rain so why continue living like that ?
I love programs like this

I wondered why they lived like that as well but I suppose it can't all be a bed of roses. We enjoy the programmes as well

I felt like their concepts of life were slightly skewed ... so she said “ oh the 9-5 stuck in traffic jams would be my nightmare “. Well , surely you don’t need to go the extreme of living up a mountain, washing ur hair in urine ?
There is a milder alternative to the 9-5 , go work in a beach cafe in Thailand/ Spain etc ...
Its like she thought the only alternative to normal life was hand to mouth survival
It made me think that her mind must be like that - extreme

I enjoyed family with the girls in Canada.

Different tonight.

Can't say I enjoyed it as much.

I didn't warm to her either I have to say

Slow to catch up here. Agree with the above comment re the extreme reaction of the 9 to 5. Also, it really disturbed me when she said after shooting and eating an animal it feels like she''becomes' that animal.

WTF?

purpleme12 · 23/01/2019 20:28

Ah I was hoping someone was coming on to comment on last night's episode!

LoadsaBlusher · 23/01/2019 21:23

This family seemed slightly normal I suppose , in the fact that they socialise and mix with other families
But I sometimes feel like Ben Fogle isn’t really critical or mentions anything negative or challenging
It’s all very positive towards them
Last night I was sitting talking back to the TV , ranting at DPGrin, saying stuff like “ so what about baths or showers , they never mentioned that “ “ what about 6 menstruating ladies “ how would they keep clean etc
I just felt there was some sort of religious thing that was completely not mentioned
Did anybody notice the large photo of the Ethiopian child hung up in their kitchen ? I thought this might be due to being missionaries / affiliated with some Christian organisation

I just feel like Ben doesn’t touch on enough
Perhaps he isn’t allowed by the families as part of the TV agreement

Please tell me I’m not the only one who rants and raves while this show is on

I think we're all talking about different episodes now!!

LoadsaBlusher · 23/01/2019 21:54

Sorry , my last post was about the 5 girl Canadian family
I’ve only saw two episodes - the Bulgarian mountain couple & the Canadian 5 girl family.

Enjoyed this weeks with the lady living in Ireland

purpleme12 · 25/01/2019 21:40

Oh right you watched it. That's funny I kind of thought the opposite (see my comment)

BF seemed to like the canadien family a lot, and wanted to visit with his family. I think I read once that he would like his family to have a much simpler lifestyle.

When there are young children involved, I wonder what’s going to happen in the future. They can’t live with their parents for ever. Also, what about when people get old and can’t cope. What happens then?

There was one programme were people were living on a converted bus (in New Zealand?). I couldn’t see that lasting beyond a few years.

Also, I wonder how long BF spends away from home. There does seem to be a lot of these programmes.
