The house is crap but the colour on the kitchen walls, I NEED to know what it is, I love it!

CurbsideProphet · 09/01/2019 21:25

It's inspired me to carry on with my decluttering to make sure we don't end up in that situation Grin

I also loved the colour of the kitchen, but the extension look very close the house next door. I doubt they were pleased about that.

ToBeClear · 09/01/2019 22:03

I immediately went and reorganized my kitchen Grin

RandomMess · 09/01/2019 22:34

I am the messy used to be a hoarder, DH the neat freak. I am a changed woman apart from my chairdrobe Grin

I certainly wanted to tidy up our house within the first 20 mins!

CurbsideProphet · 09/01/2019 22:47

I can't have a chair in the bedroom, as otherwise I would never put clothes away Grin

All that stuff in bags everywhere made me feel stressed for them. It must have taken so long to sort Shock

RandomMess · 09/01/2019 22:53

I was "they need a skip" 😱

It seems very likely he never cleared out room for his wife to move in!

I love this show, find it so therapeutic! Liked what they came up with in the end.

jessstan2 · 09/01/2019 23:30

I tend to hoard stuff.

They were a nice couple, glad Phil and Kirstie were able to help them. Hopefully they won't accumulate so much in future but, if it is ingrained in their nature (or one of their natures), it could happen again.

Their house was lovely by the end of the programme. Did they have any children between them? I didn't take note of that or watch every minute.

RandomMess · 10/01/2019 08:35

The husband had 2 DC that stayed a few nights each week.

I'd love Kirstie visit my house and sort it out.Smile

CurbsideProphet · 25/01/2019 20:36

Kirstie's first suggestion is always a good clear out Grin

beanaseireann · 17/02/2019 16:03

What did you think of the swimming pool in the lounge?
I thought her neighbour's must love her ! hating the house, hating the area, hating everything.
She really sold Purley to me . Grin

They should have bought the first house in Brighton.
It was perfect for them.

Hepzibar · 17/02/2019 21:39

Wondering who though that was a good idea in the first place

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/02/2019 21:53

I just thought it was an indoor pool - didn’t think it was necessary in the lounge iyswim

Just by the living room

Tho looked amazing when filled in

RandomMess · 17/02/2019 22:11

Missed this episode, I have driven through Purley several times - I have no desire to live there, ever and we live in a poor town!

OP posts:
Hepzibar · 17/02/2019 22:36

It looked amazing when renovations completed, what a transformation.

No idea what Purley is like but guessing it's better than Oldham

RandomMess · 17/02/2019 22:39

@Hepzibar erm I wouldn't be so sure...!

OP posts:
LaLaLamp · 17/02/2019 22:52

Were they swingers?

TwitterQueen1 · 17/02/2019 22:54

I believe that was the implication LaLa. Pampas grass in the front garden is a dead give-away, which is why Phil wanted to get rid of it.....

PickAChew · 17/02/2019 22:56

There were plenty of pampas grass jokes.

LaLaLamp · 17/02/2019 22:57

I thought that, but as Phil was joking about it, I wondered. I didn't notice a bowl on the coffee table Grin

WhiteNancy · 18/02/2019 20:36

Swimming pool lady scared the shut out of me - the look on her face when she wasn't getting her own way Shock

Couldn't understand how they spent what they did on a house they weren't sure they'd stay in.

PizzaPlanet · 19/02/2019 09:24

£150k was a silly amount of money to spend on that swimming pool house, their kitchen fixtures must have been incredibly expensive. Most of the wow factor was in the decoration of the new living room which could have been done relatively cheaply.
Also, is it just me or is some of kirsties advice a bit wierd - put the kitchen at the end of the house as you don’t want people using it as a walkthrough- surely better to have people walking past whilst you’re in the kitchen than when you’re relaxing in front of the tv?
