Sorry if there's a post already, anyone watching? I'm 4 episodes in and I'm enjoying it but not really seeing what all the fuss is about, in the news today i saw people aren't sleeping after watching 😳

Ooh I'm dying to give this a go it looks good currently battling "the worst cold ever" and falling asleep every time I try an watch something remotely interesting.

Darcey37 · 28/12/2018 22:32

I'm on episode two. I am generally a bit of a scaredy cat with thrillers etc so was a bit worried I'd be scared lol. Not freaked out yet. Some of it is a bit far fetched but I used to have a crush on the guy from gossip girl so giving it a whirl.

TinselAndKnickers · 29/12/2018 00:34

One episode left!! Has me hooked even tho there are a million loose ends/plot holesGrin

LittleLebowski · 29/12/2018 20:47

Currently binge watching it and really enjoying it! People aren't sleeping after watching? I don't get it? It's surely mostly dark humour? It reminds me very much of Dexter with the internal monologue and double life aspect. It's hard not to like Joe. I liked how the perspective switches early on so we get to hear some of Beck's inner thoughts too - made her more interesting. I'm finding it very funny in any case!

Darcey37 · 29/12/2018 21:10

Yeah I read in the news that people couldn't sleep??? Strange.

greyspottedgoose · 29/12/2018 22:01

@LittleLebowski I thought of dexter too, how he is obviously a bad guy but for the right (in his mind) reasons, Im wondering how they are going to end it now

BitOfFun · 01/01/2019 03:36

I'm loving it. Up to episode 8 or 9. It's very funny, but also tense. I really like being lulled into rooting for a character who is essentially a villain.

LittleLebowski · 02/01/2019 22:16

What did everyone think of the twisty ending? I thought it was all pretty clever. The relationship between Joe and Mr Mooney - talk of a 'code' - made it even more like Dexter. Looking forward to season 2!

ourkidmolly · 02/01/2019 22:27

Yes loved it. SPOILER!!!

Did he kill Mr Mooney? Did I miss a bit. Want to watch something else now. What's good?

Darcey37 · 02/01/2019 22:37

I loved it. Didn't like Beck and was rooting for Joe lol.
Looking forward to season two.

greyspottedgoose · 03/01/2019 09:03

I might read the sequel save me waiting for them to make the next series! I'm quite confused by the ending as he genuinely looked confused (I'm trying not to spoil it for anyone who hasn't finished) but he said himself he hadn't done it

OnTrain · 03/01/2019 19:36

I have only watched 3 episodes, but I don’t think he’s killed before as he had to read up on how to dispose of a body, and Benji was talking about how he didn’t think he was a killer. Dunno?!

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 03/01/2019 19:39

People couldn’t sleep? Weird. I’m the biggest wimp ever and I thought this was just Gossip Girl with “ooze”.Grin
I’ve enjoyed watched it today whilst my smallest has decided to cluster feed for the majority of my waking hours.

peoplearepeople · 03/01/2019 19:41

Loved this. I felt quite conflicted as I just didn't really like Beck as all. I loved the fact that she wasn't a "perfect" girl though and was incredibly flawed. Am now listening to the audiobook of the 2nd book (hidden bodies) to carry on the story and see what Joe gets up to as I couldn't wait for the next series. It works really well in audiobook form if anyone was thinking about trying it. Grin

toolazytothinkofausername · 09/01/2019 16:11

Spoiler alert:

I am so glad he killed Beck!!! I hated her! I can't wait for season 2 :)

greyspottedgoose · 09/01/2019 17:03

I got the audiobook too @peoplearepeople the narrators voice as Amy really grates on me! It's so whiney

OP posts:
UpTree · 10/01/2019 15:32

Oh that is a spoiler too Sad That came up on my notifications so no way to avoid

DeloresJaneUmbridge · 28/01/2019 09:32

I’ve never read the book so was shocked by the ending.

Can’t wait for Season 2.

Have you read the comments by Penn Badgley about people tweeting him saying he is “hot” as Joe. And he’s like “the guy is a psychopath, have a word with yourself”. Grin

notsurewhatshappening · 06/02/2019 21:00

I could tell from the beginning he was going to kill her.

Beck is incredibly irritating and whiny.

CockleburIck · 07/02/2019 01:26

Oh my god, Beck was the most bland, characterless woman ever. Pretty, but forgettable face. A writer who never wrote. She wore dull clothes and had no interest in anything. She had similarly vapid and vacuous friends, even though they had all, apparently, gone to Brown. Peach, at least, had a bit of oomph.

Joe was handsome, a good neighbour, and had a cool book shop in New York. would have had interesting, intelligent and arty women all over him. No need for bland Beck.

Spoiler alert!!!!.......

Yep, I’m not sorry he bumped her off either.

AllGoodDogs · 17/02/2019 22:37

I've just started episode 6. Can someone please tell me that he manages to bump off Peach, too?! She's more psychotic than he is!!

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 17/02/2019 22:44

You won't be disappointed @AllGoodDogs Grin

AllGoodDogs · 17/02/2019 22:49

Oh TFFT. So far Joe is the only character I actually like.

AllGoodDogs · 18/02/2019 13:45

... Last 10 mins of the series.. I'm watching from behind a cushion. She has him in the box. Stop yelling at him and get out you dim woman!!!!

WakeUpFromYourDreamAndScream · 18/02/2019 15:54

@AllGoodDogs I was shouting at the tele when she whacked him over the head with the mallet but only once, why oh why not make sure he was dead first! Idiot.

Loved the ending can't wait for season 2
